While this is probably the most effective way to maximize deportations in the short term, Isn't this just kicking the can down the road?
That would imply all of these efforts are kicking the can down the road.

After all the red areas have been gone through, then what?
*ETA: but in seriousness, as I said, there are enough illegals in Florida and Texas to keep DHS busy until the 2028 election.

This tips the scale on my GAF meter closer to zero.

If your goal is maximizing deportations, an illegal being from Texas, Florida, or Minnesota shouldn't matter. If your goal is something else, then that distinction may matter.
You’re moving the goalposts again.
And if all you’re doing is deporting from a few states, they can simply go where they’re protected by the state governments

Trump and Walz both seem to be taking the off-ramp, at least for now:
Bringing in Homan is a good move.
quote:
Governor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota. It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength. I told Governor Walz that I would have Tom Homan call him, and that what we are looking for are any and all Criminals that they have in their possession. The Governor, very respectfully, understood that, and I will be speaking to him in the near future. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota, and so am I! We have had such tremendous SUCCESS in Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and virtually every other place that we have “touched” and, even in Minnesota, Crime is way down, but both Governor Walz and I want to make it better! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
Bringing in Homan is a good move.

Not at all.

They can do this today and the states with cooperation are lapping areas like MN, still.
If the rates drop, you can re-evaluate. I imagine there will be enough who don't move to keep DHS at max capacity in cooperative areas and you don't waste resources.

Only if certain hotbeds of illegal immigration are being ignored and resources are over-allocated to Minneapolis.

You have to explain how using resources to deport more illegals is kicking the can down the road, but using the same amount of resources over the same amount of time to deport fewer illegals isn't. You end up in the same spot other than a drastic difference in deported illegals.

Trump talking like this publicly is good, for everybody.
It’s also the biggest indicator that the smart people in his orbit are in full on damage control mode
