Not a border collie but a collie none the less. I love my baby girl. She’s 11.5 years old now.

Wish I had a friend that has a farm. Would love to see my girl get some work.

Had a border collie/springer spaniel mix. She was the smartest, best dog ever.

Yep.

Go get a beer out of our friends fridge, there she is. Good luck getting around the kitchen island.

Additionally, they will play “fetch” until they die or your rotator cuff is dust.

I live on a golf course. There are a lot of ducks and geese around, but he totally ignores them.

But he'll chase anything else: rabbits, squirrels, golf carts, golf balls, anything that moves quickly along the ground.

When I walk down the hall between our kitchen and our bedroom, he'll block my path. I've just gotten used to walking through him.

That last video, of the dog on the exercise mat, looks more like an Aussie than a Border Collie. The breeds are very similar and equally smart and trainable. I think Border Collies may be more energetic, but not by much.

Both are incredible breeds to have. We had an Aussie for 15 years and while she was never trained to herd, the instincts were hard-coded. As a puppy, she put all the neighborhood kids on the trampoline and would nip them if they tried to climb off. We corrected that behavior pretty easily, but it was funny, at first.

You do have to spend time with them to challenge them mentally and physically, but they are great additions to any family. Once she got out of the puppy stage, our's was very low maintenance, as long as she got exercise.

If that was a pitbull he would have made them into lamb chops.

Mine is a swimmer. Will legit swim in the pool for hours unless I tell him to stop. He knows when he is allowed in the pool and when he is not also If he sees you grab a towel or open the back door in swim trunks he knows its on.

My son has an Aussie and it is so true you could play fetch with her until she drops of exhaustion.

My collie mix loves to go fishing with us. She knows when we are going. She runs out the door and jumps in the truck.

My neighbours have a pit bull that sweetly guards their hens while they're out clucking about. If they get too close to the street she guides them back in

One of the most intelligent dogs I’ve ever owned was a border collie / chocolate lab mix. He looked full chocolate lab except his bushy tail. The best bird dog and family dog I ever had.

Got to see a live demonstration of this in Ireland. The cool part is the dogs only responded to Gaelic commands.

Our Aussie was a swimmer too. When she was young, I would tire her out by taking her on a 3-mile walk, then retrieving sticks in the Chattahoochee. The cold water and strong current would insure ensure that she took a (brief) nap on the way home. One park we went to had a 7-acre pond with ducks. She, of course, ran into the water to "herd" the ducks from one end of the pond to the other for 20 minutes until I made her quit.

Someone mentioned playing fetch, our's liked that, but she liked tug-of-war even more and simply would not stop.
