I agree those looks nice.. however the four door one my dad had was not really a show stopper.. we moved from that to a 4 door dodge polara…

Clearly …. Style was not the key decision with my dad….

In 1955, the oldest Boomers weren’t even 10 years old yet.

That was a fair point, I didn’t catch that it was a sedan.

But you're still comparing a Sports car to a non-sports car...

Studebaker made nice cars....Buts lets be real and do a true comparison...

Nice ride.... But look at that backseat in the Chevy.

1956 Studebaker - 4 door

eta: it also had room to roam.

Well maybe I’m turned around. I was thinking the Studebaker had a back seat.

Some people just want a car to get from Point A to Point B and don't see it as a fashion symbol or a representative of their individuality.

Just as some people dress plainly and some people are into fashion.

Felix Leiter took one of those and replaced the engine with a Cadillac engine. Ian Fleming called it a Studillac.

my uncle had a 1953 studebaker with an overhead valve v-8. it was a decade or more ahead of everything else in style. GM didn't get a v-8 until 1955.

My dad had one when I was a kid and he'd refer to it as his "Steady Breaker" since he seemed to always be working on it.

But yeah, they were low slung pretty streamlined cars for that era.
