Scruffy agrees with you.

This issue is a management problem, not a diversity one.

So how many blacks and women and gays and straights were working on the project?

I have no idea. Do you think it matters?

I never laid that out or made the claim, your insecurity it causing you to see a boogeyman in the closet. I simply stated that Boeing’s goal was to build a diversified workforce insofar as the were hiring anything other than white men. Perhaps that goal should have been to build airworthy planes and rockets and hire the best engineers for the job regardless of skin color. I am against racism and sexism in any form.

To be fair, it appears as though your insecurities are showing through as well.

Sorry I’m against racism, if that triggers you maybe you should find a different thread. I know you’re still upset Hillary lost.

Damn shame it's not a positive difference though

You'll have a tough time finding any large company that doesnt echo that in 2020.

There is no other reason for you to continue bringing up diversity, though. This thread is about planes crashing.

There you go again. Are you an idiot, or do you think we are? The makeup up their workforce has absolutely nothing to do with the planes crashing. It has everything to do with cost-cutting decisions as far as the overall concept of the plane.

Then stop bringing it up. This thread is about planes crashing.

Alright. The other guy didn't like the sources because they were "magazines". You don't like the sources because they cite actual studies, and apparently studies are not to be trusted.

I guess the only real truth in the world is our feelings then, huh? Well, not anyone's feelings. Specifically your feelings and the feelings of those who agree with you, right?

One "side" brings data, the other brings feelings. Then the side that brings feelings projects that the other side is the side of feelings. Pathetic.

Their focus is own diversity and hiring women and minorities per their own board. Not designing airplanes and rockets that fly.

This tells you all you need to know about Boeing

Where is any evidence that this had anything to do with diversity hiring? That is just racist dog whistling.

It had everything to do with money. Boeing didn't want to pay what it would cost to get a new type aircraft approved, so they overstretched an existing design and put in a bad control system to try go correct the problem that caused.

The reason I'm in this thread at all is to at least try to explain to all these knuckleheads that Boeing's hiring procedures have absolutely dick to do with the problems with the Max. Execs insisted on larger engines. The correct engineering solution would be to design a new plane. Execs insisted on using the 737 to avoid all the costs of certifying a new plane and training pilots. The engineers were given a set of parameters that absolutely should not have been attempted. Still, the plane works fine as long as pilots are properly trained on what is an entirely different plane as far as flight characteristics and controls. Execs hid the fact that pilots needed to be retrained from the FAA.

But let's blame the diversity.
The articles you linked said diversity improves decision making an innovation and focused almost exclusively on leadership teams and positions. The first article you linked said more diverse companies are more profitable. So if Boeing’s déverse leadership team made decisions based on profitability, then it stands to reason that a diverse leadership team is the root cause of these crashes.

And yet US pilots don't seem to have a huge issue with them. I think I'd trust the people that have to fly them.

Just got into this read and not reading everything; however, this statement here is truth. Good friends with a few pilots that have flown the plane and said they have zero problem and would get in an fly out again. The problems are easily correctable and the US pilots are trained well enough. The problem with the plane is the many international pilots are not of the same caliber and those are where you see the problems. Unfortunately, these planes need to be re-designed so that inferior pilots are capable of flying them.

That might stand to reason if you're a racist piece of shite.

All leadership teams make decisions based on profitability. Some focus on short term profits, others on long term.

This particular leadership team put short term profits ahead of safety.

If it crosses your mind to think "hey wait a minute... there were some women and non-white people involved in these decisions! That must be the problem!" then you're a racist/sexist piece of shite.

BTW, according to this page Boeing's leadership is about 68% male and about 82% white-ish. But it must be all that fricking diversity causing planes to crash!

What strikes me about this whole mess is people putting these kind of comments on the company email with their names attached. Whether it's fact or not or just plain frustration, you never know who and when these might be discovered.
We were always getting reminders from the Company to stay within the guidelines of email policy. I'm sure a lot of it was to protect the Company, but also to an extent to protect the employee as well.
