I’m sure you’re blind to the irony of your post.

I don't consider this a pissing match, and I'm not bitching about you posting There is no irony there.

Next time proof read your Op and we can avoid all this. Doubt you'll learn anything though.

I know on the 737-MAX there was a sensor that malfunctions and makes the plane think its about to stall out and nose dives the plane. It's why those 2 flights crashed and they grounded all of them afterwards for a few years.

This wasn't a MAX

I think the poster is talking about the MCAS system. And those were MAX planes. No telling how many other sensors on the 737 can do stuff.

I do not live far from there myself. I am also a pilot and fly that area frequently. One would have to be really confused to mistake the Yukon area for WIll Rogers. I could see them mistakenly setting up an approach to WIley Post, which lies about 7 miles to the north of Will Rogers, but come one.....

Maybe they were having a Juneteenth celebration on board and weren't paying attention to the A/P - altimeter. I can imagine the folks in that neighborhood were shook out of bed for sure.

Boeing really should be proud that the 737 demonstrated the ability to get within spitting distance of the ground and pull climb out. Ten miles from the airport they might have the first flaps in, but the gear should have been stowed (likely) and it was not likely configured in the TOGA (goaround) mode.

It's especially true when readers are too stupid to understand that this has nothing to do with Boeing and everything to do with the pilots.

I used to live in Yukon. Went to elementary and middle school there. Home of Garth Brooks. One of my elementary teachers taught him back in the day and they've got a street named after him.

Also home of the Millers I guess because they milled stuff

Better questions might be why are you attempting to conduct a visual approach in the middle of the night to the shortest runway at the airport that is the only one that doesn't have an ILS approach and also has the most basic runway lighting and approach lighting system of any of the runways at the airport???

I have landed there in the S80 and 737 hundreds of times and have never landed on Rwy 13/31. Landing on 17R in the first place might cost you 5 minutes of extra taxi-in time depending on what gate you are heading to.

Worth it?? Maybe SWA needs to take a look at how they operate??

I just stepped on a 737-900ER heading home to NOLA. Wish me luck.

ETA for some reason I was under the impression the Delta only flew airbus.

Hate to break the bad news to you but both Airbus and Boeing probably use the same suppliers for all these sensors. In fact it was faulty angle of attack sensors that brought down Air France flight 447 which was an Airbus plane.

Also all sensors “can do stuff”. It’s what sensors do. It’s the pilots job to fly the plane when sensors fail.
