pilots getting a road and runaway confused, not an aircraft issue. I saw a thread about this on another website that showed satellite views with the aircraft's track overlaid and it looks like they were lining up to land on a highway until the control tower asked them what the frick they were doing.

If true… the team at Boeing must really be cursing the universe this morning

pilots were able to tug the plane up

What, did they use a come-along, a skyhook or maybe one of those shitty scissor jacks like all the automakers now put in their vehicles? Or maybe they called in one of those sky tuggers?

This sounds more like pilot error

Yeah idk wtf is going on at SWA. Lots of new pilots at the majors lately.
Straight up pilot error. No situational awareness.

He never lost control of the plane

That is true of many crashes which are due to CFIT - Controlled Flight Into Terrain - one of, if not the most, common causes of crashes. Pilots fly perfectly functioning planes into the ground.....

Yeah I think the news is making this a bigger deal than it is. Like you said it wasn’t a drastic decend. Pretty standard decend. Not ideal to fly that low over a neighborhood but probably happens more times than people know. He never lost control of the plane

An airliner flying 500 feet off the ground over 10 miles from the airport is a big deal. Somebody messed up.

Somebody, yes.

Doubt the brand of plane had anything to do with it.

This is far more accurate than you realize.

Boeing, like Toyota, drives their suppler base for lower costs and faster (JIT) deliveries.

Both companies have suffered terrible QC issues.

Point of fact, the CEO through the majority of Boeing's success was a lawyer.

The Md Merger was almost 30 years ago, and MD made great airplanes. This is an argument ginned up by bitter legacy Boeing staff when they lost out on perks and promotions after the merger.
