Blue Origin rocket experiences "anomaly," forced to abort in flight (no humans on board)

I imagine the next round of almost space tourists will have puckered butts after seeing this.
Youtube video
Abort system worked, which is the positive news, looks like it would be a WILD flight if there had been people on board.

so would you say the penis shaped rocket had a premature ejection?

"soon you'll see a cloud of dust from the thrusters"
BAM!
"there were those thrusters"
BAM!
"there were those thrusters"

Can you imagine the feeling of free fall before the chutes deployed?

I saw those thruster comments too. No doubt that's part of it, but that impact was hard

I think it will have the opposite effect. This aborted launch shows that even if something catastrophic happens, you can still arrive safely back to Earth. I’m not saying this was a planned event but it effectively demonstrated some of the Blue Origin safety features.

That landing looked rough

It did look rough. The quick launch away after the abort, and the landing being rough makes that one hell of a ride. However it beats exploding. Kudos to Blue Origin. They might say that was planned, but it works in their favor.

No one is surviving that impact, better put a few more chutes on there. I noticed they took the speed info off the screen, imagine falling 300 mph for 3 or 4 minutes, really curious what it was for the last 1000' foot or so.

It looks like half way up it decided to try to throw the passengers into orbit only to air mail it.

what's that launch cost?

She's the equivalent of the Let's Go Brandon chic.

They were dropping at a crazy pace even with the first chutes deployed. Had there been folks on board, they were gonna need to clean those spacesuits. On a real reentry you’re expecting it, not on the way up.

Curious what the g forces are when that thing aborted, slowed down and then sped up (in the opposite direction

That was just a test of the in-flight abort system... the test was a complete success

It is fascinating to watch the airspeed and what is happening to make it change.
That's a visual lesson in aerodynamics and the kind of shite we should be teaching kids in school instead of worrying about each other's preferred pronouns.

At 1:30, they hit 700mph+
At 1:34, they are down to 450mph.
At 1:39, they are down to 280mph.
At 1:42, they are down to below 200mph..
I don’t know how to calculate Gs, but I doubt that’s survived if humans were inside. If it is survivable, I don’t wanna have anything to do with it.
Around 1:51, it slowed to 0 mph at 37,345 feet. Freefall begins….
That would be a horrible feeling!! Nope nope nope!!

She sounded a little tearful after the chutes deployed.
