The Waukesha massacre suspect who's alleged to have deliberately drove a red SUV through the city’s parade route running over dozens of people told the media he feels like he’s being "dehumanized" in his first interview.

Fox News Digital got an exclusive interview with Darrell Brooks at the Waukesha County Jail. Not much was offered in the ways of immediate quotes other than he feels "like I'm being monster – demonized," over the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy that killed six people and injured 62.

The other highlight of the piece is the contrast between Darrell and his mother, Dawn Woods. Earlier in the day she released a response letter to media outlets to claim that her son suffered mental problems that he couldn’t get the treatment for.

"Darrell did not come from a bad family like many people have said. He came from a loving Christian family and is the grandson of ministers. Darrell has suffered from mental health issues since he was very young. In those years he received counseling and was on medication. When he became an adult a decision was made that he no longer suffered from a mental illness."

Before trying to explain his actions, the family of Darrell Brooks expressed their condolences over the Waukesha parade attack.

The Fox interviewers say that Brooks sobbed behind a pair of corrections officers when learning about his mother’s letter. He told them previously that he was "very close" with her.
