My primary opposition to hate crime laws is (1) they give specified categories of victims special treatment and (2) they would never be enforced black hate crime/white victim.

Many criminal laws do this. I don't favor hate crimes either but they're not unique in this respect. What's different about hate crimes is penalizing for the motive--what the perpetrator was thinking or feeling at the time.

9 times out of 10 they dont' fight unless it's an unfair fight they know they can win.
