The 2 pics from Fred’s I have seen he doesn’t have drink in hand. No that doesn’t prove anything but it is possible he was the designated driver that night and made a bad decision passing other car and compounded bad decision by panicking and leaving.

Is it accurate to say he had every right to pass the car? I believe Ben Hur is a single dashed line divider but could be wrong

Looks like the cast majority of the road is a single dash line. Does anyone know what he was doing crossing that road by foot? Seems like a very odd place to be walking around, especially considering it wasn’t a student that lived there or had friends living there.

Not blaming the poor guy for anything, just curious

His buddies in the car can testify on his behalf.

They’ve extended Ben Hur since I’ve been in undergrad. It now connects Nicholson and Burbank, but doesn’t directly connect to the original Ben Hir heading south to the River off of Nicholson.

The new, curvier road appears to be solid lines for the most part and is where are the new housing stuff is located. However, the area heading south/west off of Burbank is a two-laned dashed area to allow for traffic to get around folks turning right into the apartment complex.

The scene was said to be on Ben Hur near Burbank.

If there were other people in the car with him it will be interesting to see how they corroborate his story of having no idea he hit a person.

I’m surprised that didn’t say Teen Range Rover or Youth Range Rover

Thanks for the info. The entire section of Ben Hur between Burbank and Nicholson is a single dashed road, assuming Google maps is current. I had no idea how much housing has been developed in that area. Probably not a road you can go that fast on.

i am curious about the passenger situation. Were there any?

if so, none of them realized they hit a person? If they did, are they all lying about not knowing they hit a person? Those are some good friends who are willing to lie to police for you. Or possibly, there were passengers but driver lied to cops saying there were none. That leaves no one for the cops to interview.

Yea I’ve read where there may have been someone(s) in the vehicle but who knows if that’s actually true. Like you said, if I knew my friend hit and killed someone while I was in the car I would not risk my life lying for that person.

I don’t know how that road is anymore, I know apartments are over there now. But crossing streets at night with cars coming is a dumb idea.

Unless this dude swerved to hit people that weren’t on pavement then the 44 year old is a dead idiot.

And there is a scenario where the walking guy was the drunk guy and not the driver. But my money is they both had been drinking.

Huh? It looks like it’s mostly double-yellow on Google Earth, except where things get wonky nearest Burbank.

Odd. I was looking at it on my computer and it shows a single dashed line the whole way. However, when I pull it up on my phone the entire thing outside of the first 0.2 miles is double solid. Wonder if it happened in those first 0.2 miles where the driver actually has two lanes

Near Burbank you have yellow lines and turning lanes. Don’t know why you would pass anyone rt there. And shite I didn’t know they added a chic fi la rt there.

Either way crossing Ben hur rt there or crossing Burbank seems like a terrible idea. Go up to the light.

Google Maps shows it's single dashed yellow.

Quoting the article, The crash happened shortly after midnight Sunday morning on Ben Hur Road, off Burbank Drive, near several off-campus LSU student housing complexes. Police said Jude Jarreau, 44, was trying to cross the road when he was hit by a black Range Rover SUV. The SUV reportedly drove off before police arrived.

Here are 3 possible crossing locations, neither of which have a pedestrian-friendly crosswalk:

Last I remember, the lighting on the road is poor closer towards the complexes closer to Nicholson. Eye witness accounts will provide more help than any potential passenger testimonies in the car.

Could've parked his car on one side and gone to another. Sounds like he went to one location, parked at the other.

You’re looking at google maps on your computer. It shows completely different if you use the app on your phone. It’s actually double solid yellow the entire way but there’s a section about 0.2 miles long that is two lane that he could’ve been on. Anything outside of that he would’ve been having to go around on double solid yellow

Witnesses in the car would know if Brister knew he hit a person.

Isn’t it a bit ironic the victim hit and killed a guy on a bike 24 years ago?

Yea, as I recall he left the guy to die. It was a black guy he hit.
