Yep. Like I said in the thread when it went into effect, they are really underestimating (shocker) how smart kids are. My 16 year old has had a VPN for a few years now so he can play online video games with the regions unlocked. If they wanna see tits they're gonna see tits.

“In preparation for this bill today, I went to one of the largest non-compliant porn sites, so I could tell you exactly what non-compliance to age verification looks like. With only one click I was able to access hardcore pornography on the landing page alone, depicting acts of incest, sexual assault, rape, and sex with minors," said Rep. Laurie Laurie Schlegel, the Republican sponsoring the bill.

This is why people don't like Republicans. She's lying in front of a legislative panel. None of that happened.

Or if it did... it's the ultimate "for research purposes" thing.

I think the problem many have is tying this to LA wallet. They can sit there and say that no actual information is exchanged, nothing is tracked, etc, but 1) no one beleives that and 2) it can be hacked.

When a minor tries to buy booze at the store and is carded, the clerk looks at the ID, makes a decision, and that's it.

I understand the internet is different... and I understand that trying to keep porn away from minors is an admirable goal (also knowing that if a kid wants to see it, they will eventually see it). But I feel like the real issue here is, for good reason, no one trusts the state government to not screw this up.

If you are concenred about your kids potentially watching porn, lock down your network and lock down their phones.

Genius move by LA. There are hundreds of thousands of porn sites on the internet, the state could be running a trillion dollar surplus in a couple of years.

are they going to fine google image search 5000 a day?

how can they even fine a company running a website accessible from anywhere if it doesn't directly operate in this state? What are they going to do if they don't pay?

Kids having to work for vice is a good thing. It reinforces that it is, in fact, something not great for them. Particularly with pornography, it's also more indicative of real life sexuality.

I'm kind of torn on this whole issue. I mean, kids have it way too easy these days. Back in my day, you really had to work to find porn and have a really good place to stash it.

Why is it we expect, under penalty of law, businesses that sell alcohol, tobacco, firearms, fireworks, and tattoos to verify their customers are legally old enough to have those products, but for some reason the porn industry is exempt from this same standard?

Are you under the impression that I agree with the above?

Louisiana has a million issues. Why is porn at the top of the politician's concerns?

I suspect if 15 year olds were having to struggle to find playboy centerfolds there may be fewer of them desensitized and moving on to amputee incest porn by the time they hit college age.

Because ignoring it would give valuable time to fixing real problems

While I may enjoy the beauty of the female form, I am not a connoisseur of XXX porn. Heck I am still going strong for my nofap 2023 goal.

I was just in Florida and riding through that state, then returning to this one and seeing what the legislature is focused on - we're such a complete joke here.

Seriously. How will things be here in a decade?

Nah. All they did is identify themselves as people who have not actually read or studied the Bible.

Going to church on Sunday and judging people during the week, does not make you a Christian.

Good! For research, last night I watched some porn and after more than 5 hours, I was totally disgusted.

He is right. The Internet ruined the mystique of it. The days of trying to unscramble HBO/Cinemax, finding that hidden Playboy magazine or the extremely rare VHS/Betamax was a rite of passage from boy to man.

Kids these days do not have that and their sexual relationships as they become adults have suffered from that.

As a young lad, I used to j/o to a mental image of Jessica Simpson in dukes of hazard. Now 12 year olds are seeing “Brother arse fricks step sis” everyday on their phones and tablets.
