frick a motherfricking bike theif. I'm so tired of everyone making excuses for criminals these days. That's why crime is out of control. Let the man walk and send a message out to all the fricking bike thieves.

You don't have to shoot someone in the freakin head. Shoot him in the leg if you want, but executing a guy because of a bike is ridiculous.

Got any examples of someone killing a bike thief and getting away with it?

I wouldn't do it, but I fully support the guy who did.

So now it's fashionable to like the cops in BR.

Nice!

Shooter is wrong for killing a man over a bicycle.

Thief should have made better decisions in his life.

A bicycle is not worth losing your life over.

Dumbasses abound in this story.

Including the author.

Exactly. It should instead read "Thieves need to value other people's belongings and quit stealing."

Im thinking that the thief has probably committed many more illegal things during his life on earth. His bad choices finally caught up to him. Maybe steal a motorbike next time? Hate a thief.

What about respect people in general? They don't think the shooter might have needed that bike to run errands to make money or pick up medicine for his sick child? His life didn't matter?

frick a thief, don't be stealing shite and you won't risk getting shot.

The bike was probably just the beginning of the journey to Wisconsin to to be with his mother.

Cause and effect

Cause
Moron gambles stealing a bike hoping nothing will happen to him.
He knows he will not go to jail and the police will do nothing to him.
He lost this roll of the dice as the guy he stole from was not going to allow this to go unpunished.

Effect
The dice rolled snake eyes and he lost his life.

One stupid decision brought someone else into this situation where they made a stupid decision.

Then The Advicate spins it that this guy was the neighborhood Angel. Reality is that he was probably a neighborhood thug that met up with Karma who had a weapon.

Generally? Any lawyer (or person with common sense) will tell you that the use of deadly force is not permissible to recover property.

Specifically? LRS Title 14, Section 19

(1) The use of force or violence upon the person of another is justifiable under either of the following circumstances:

(a) When committed for the purpose of preventing a forcible offense against the person or a forcible offense or trespass against property in a person’s lawful possession, provided that the force or violence used must be reasonable and apparently necessary to prevent such offense.

(2) The provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Section shall not apply where the force or violence results in a homicide.

I just dislike how the alternative of not stealing someone's bike is never discussed.

Exactly. If he wouldn't have stolen something that didn't belong to him, he wouldn't have been shot. It's as simple as that.

Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

But I also don't want to go to jail, so I wouldn't shoot someone just for stealing. Now... if they were stealing AND I felt like my life or my family's lives were threatened, that's a whole nother ballgame.
this is what it boils down to for me.
Don't give a shite that the guy is dead, but even if it were borderline on the legal side to shoot him in that situation, it would still cause way too much hassle to deal with in the aftermath. And I don't have time for that shite.

Unfortunately you have to have a reasonable fear for your safety to use deadly force. If you see some guy breaking into your vehicle in your driveway you can't just walk out and shoot him. If you confront him and he pulls a gun on you or attacks you, you'd be justified.

It's amazing that people think a guy should be dead because of a stolen bike. That's pretty effed up.

meh. It's not as much as people thinking he should be dead as it is people not caring that he's dead. And you won't lose sleep over it either.
