Cyclists will just slow you down since they'll have to take the entire lane due the narrow travel lane.
Why would people have to slow down? Removing the marked bicycle lane doesn't mean it will not exist. It will be just as it was before the bike lane markings were added. There is a enough money on Glenmore to pay a SHITLOAD of parking tickets, telling them they can not park in front of their house is a fight cyclists will lose.

Burgundy will not be a one-way. No one cares about that street.
It's happening...

Maybe the way it looks to you, but not in terms of "performance". There is a reason cyclists wear tight fitting clothes and it isn't because of appearance.
Well I get all that for racing and improving time. But you can't tell me that big motherfricker on his hybrid is trying to race anyone.
It's just as bad as the casual jogger wearing Newton running shoes, compression socks, etc. The cockmonkerry is just not as flamboyantly visible on runners as it is on cyclists.

Because bicyclists will not be able to pull over to allow the car to pass them. I'm personally not going to hit a parked car while cycling. Whatever floats your boat though.

Let me complicate this even more: Glenmore turns from a boulevard to a two way street just across Claycut. This stretch is busier that the boulevard, yet is does not have a bike path. Splain that?

If you live on Glenmore and you have too many people over to fit in your driveway, where are they supposed to park?
Do whatever it is that people who live on perkins road, government st., or staring lane do when that happens.

$$$$$$$$ is the only reason.

Isn’t that what a front yard is for?

In East Baton Rouge Parish it's not. It is against the law to park in your front yard. You can, and will, get a ticket.

Well I wonder why I those fine citizens north of Florida BLVD are not getting ticketed? Yet, if someone, God forbid. parks in front of our own house we now get tickets lightning fast.

Those are all heavily travelled roads that you are comparing to a residential street. EBR Planning Commission recommended the following in consideration of bicycle lanes
quote:
Bicycle lanes are best suited for use in urban areas on arterial roadways with traffic volumes greater than 10,000 vehicles per day and average travel speeds of over 30 mph.
If Hundred Oaks and Glenmore have more than 10,000 vehicle a day, or even a 1/10th of that, I'd be shocked

Actually it's not. Try riding a bike with a headwind while wearing loose clothing then come back and tell me if you want a tighter fit.

Again, no it's not. Compression socks can be used to help relive pain from injuries and the right shoes can help prevent those injuries. It's science.

Because of money and influence. You're ignoring the fact that people on streets like Glenmore don't play the same set of rules are the people north of Florida Blvd. It's the reality of the situation.
Look at South Donmore, the residents got it turned into a One-way because it's all about who you know and if you can afford to grease the palms of the right person. Yet Burgundy remains a cut through. At least for now.

we were discussing that at lunch. i think they expect a high percentage of bikers to turn west on Hundred Oaks and heard toward LSU through the lakes. Capital heights ends at Acadian, so there's no safe place to cross Acadian. Broussard west of Acadian is too narrow, busy and fast for bicycles. Hundred Oaks is wider, and is not so heavily traveled. That's my best guess.
I moved into the Capital Heights neighborhood in 2001 because it was cheap, then bought on Capital Heights in 2004. although we have 5 or 6 bikes, we don't ride much. We supported the 2007 change to one-way with bike paths because it would limit and hopefully slow the traffic. the positive changes in the neighborhood as a direct result of this change would be hard to overstate. It has completely changed the neighborhood for the better. I support bike lanes in Baton Rouge, and they're going to happen whether i support then or not.
now for my question. Why is a car lane on a street a right and a bike lane only a privilege?

Were you ever allowed to park on the I-10 bridge without being ticketed?

Oh for fricks sake. Those socks are a frickin gimmick.

No. Glenmore got speed humps because people on Glemore are connected and were able to get it done. The bike lane was an afterthought. They should have left it unmarked so people could still park there without getting a ticket but some dork decided to paint a bike lane symbol.
Bicyclist needs or travel paths never crossed the mind of the people on Glenmore.

You're stepping on your own dick with that question. You pay zero registration fees, zero insurance, gas taxes do not apply to you, and you have zero safety inspection costs.
Start paying ALL of those, and then we will have a talk about more bike lanes.

Almost all bicyclists pay those taxes for their cars.
