Pretty sure the US has subs patrolling that area. Wonder what it does to them, or what it would be like on one of them when something like this happens??
Are they on the surface of the water?

Subs or ships shouldn’t notice much if anything.

Only near the shore would things get interesting.

I went through a 7.2 in Palmer in 2018.

Scariest shite of my life. That was a shallower one so felt it more as it was out by Pt McKenzie.

Woke me up bright an early in the morning the day before I moved to rural Alaska

Still habe PTSD from it

Wasn't everybody who wasn't granted special access banned from visiting Kamchatka during the Cold War?

Have a buddy on the north shore of Oahu. They aren’t fricking around and evacuating. He’s expecting his house to be gone when he returns.

if a 10 foot wave hit honolulu that could be problematic

Honolulu is on the windward side protected from the direction of the tsunami, the leeward side of the island will be in the crosshairs though. The leeward side doesn't have very little civilization compared. There is literally nothing in most of the leeward side on Kauai for example except in the northern coast there are a couple of smaller towns.
