Spinning off on the Jon Rosenstern program topic I have a question for some of my fellow Christians. Many of you look to the bible and claim to find parallels between current events and biblical prophesy. This is done through interpretation, often symbolically or metaphorically ,of the literature. Yet other stories such as the creation story or the great flood, Sodom & Gomorrah are taken literally by many of you. Why?
I believe a literal interpretation of the bible often times misses the point of the story but thats just me.

Here we go. This is likely to be wacked.

But anyone using a "literal interpretation" of the Bible, I assume they know how to read and interpret Ancient Aramaic.

I tend to treat the Bible as a book of parables, not necessarily a historically correct book.

I believe the word you're looking for is symbology.

I personally like these type of threads, but religious threads are generally frowned upon.

I view the Bible's text how I view Trump's tweets, every word is true, despite any amount of evidence to the contrary.

Sometimes I also wonder where in the bible it says you have to invite Christ Jesus into your heart to be saved from Satan's fire.

That's a great observation. Nowhere in the Bible does it say invite Jesus into your heart. It does say repent and believe however.

There is plenty of evidence of a great flood, at least in the mediterranean region.

A local boy kicked me in the butt last week. I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek. I really don't care, in fact I wish him well, cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burnin' in Hell.

There is plenty of evidence for several large floods, but absolutely ZERO evidence for a worldwide flood. In addition, there are a variety of reasons why the noah story is debunked, especially genetics.
