Beverly Hills votes to outlaw tobacco sales in ordinance believed to be first of its kind in US

quote:

• The Beverly Hills City Council late Tuesday voted to outlaw sales of most tobacco products in a sweeping ordinance that is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.

• The ban, which is set to begin in 2021, prohibits the sale of cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and electronic cigarettes sold in gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies and grocery stores.

• However, the ordinance exempts tobacco sales at high-end cigar lounges and hotels.

I hate smoke, and my dad died of lung cancer due to smoking, but I'm not a fan of telling people what they can and can't do with their bodies (abortion is murder and not the same) or impeding commerce. This does both.

Do you purposely try to be this ignorant or does it just come naturally?

If alcohol laws are called the blue laws, what will all the new tobacco laws be called?

From the CDC...

Secondhand smoke harms children and adults, and the only way to fully protect nonsmokers is to eliminate smoking in all homes, worksites, and public places.1,2,3

I’ve seen this headline on other sites this morning, along with lots of negative comments and pushback.. i think this ordinance is a good thing, and i’m pretty sure that those against it simply just hate ‘Beverly Hills’, or the concept of Beverly Hills, and what it stands for.. i have no such hangups, and i hope other municipalities follow suit.

You can literally go down sunset to westwood at the 76 and get a pack, or drive east into WeHo and do the same....all though you will be smoking something else....and i don't mean the devil's lettuce.

I feel like California cities always find a way to out-retard their fellow municipalities.

Also, did you know that LA County is made up of over 80+ cities?

That's all external.

The high falutin' snobby celebs and such are pure filth and trash internally still.

Where do you go where second hand smoke is a problem now days? Riverboat casinos? If so, you're the trashy one.

And now, you'll actually hear someone say "no, we're not selling tobacco products here. It's all totally legit weed products."

CA takes one more step toward becoming Opposite Land.
