80s was coke/crack and 90s was opiates (oxycontin, etc). I like uppers more so 80s wins.

I came of drinking age twice...once at 18 and again at 21 so yeah pre 1990 for buying alcohol at the store. I'm not sure how long the bars were grandfathered in...didn't matter to me by that time.

But the 80's were great.

Anyone who grew up in the 80's would disagree. Grunge, shitty rap, commercialized R&B and vapid pop music. 90's music was just awful

Those were really popular when I was in college in the early 00s, didn't realize that was a 90s thing.

The ‘80s but I had a pretty good time in the ‘90s as a young Navy sailor.

The only ones who ponder if the 90s was better than the 80s are those too young to remember the 80s.

The 90s was a good decade, far better than anything since; but The 80 was apex of human civilization.

I turned 18 in September of 1986 and could legally drink, buy alcohol and go to bars. Law changed to 21 on January 1st 1987 and those in between were not grandfathered in so I became illegal again. If you were 18-20 you could still go in bars but you could not drink but that was rarely enforced. You could drink if a guardian was with you. It was only into the 90's where I started noticing the wristbands they would 18-20 year old's. The was only changed because the federal government blackmailed the states into taking constitutional rights away from 18-20 year old's. They threatened to quit giving federal highway money to states that didn't comply.

Looking back, it seems to me that the 80’s and 90’s were equally great until the internet came out. That’s what killed the good times, Simpler times, at least. More human.

The only music worth a shite in the 90's was country. That gave you Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Mark Chestnut, Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw, Garth, Joe Diffie and on and on.

80's rock vs 90's country would be quite the battle royal but the 80's was easily the better decade.

I feel like plays were better in the 1890s compared to the 1880s.

80's music is overrated IMO

The metal scene was solid, but the hard rock hair bands aren't that great across the board.
So mainstream huh? Too bad you weren't into 80's punk. That was the shite. Misfits, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Social Distortion, X, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, Meat Puppets, Minutemen, etc., etc. The nights out in BTR and NO watching these guys was insane.

If you weren't into the punk scene as a young white male in the 80's, YOU MISSED OUT!

And then this:

Good lord, make my stomach turn. This isn't a Pro for the 90's, it's a Con. Real country music wouldn't begin to re-appear with the outlaw shift until Hank 3 emerged in the 2000's.

For music, 1980's hands down.

Culture - 80's - Internet hadn't emerged yet, so people still interacted personally.
Politics / govt policy - 80's - Ronald Reagan
Economy - both decades were good, because see above

You are wrong though. I turned 21 just a few months after the age change. I still remember the law going into effect and it only effecting me for a very short period of time.

I turned 21 in 1996. Maybe fact means something different to you younger folk?
