Has the same active ingredient as Zanfel but half the price. You just want to get rid of the urushiol oil off/out of the skin. so scrub away.

Best thing to do is always take a cold shower after you’ve been around it.

Cortisone cream

This is the best I’ve found.

Also, immediately wash the area that might have come in contact.

Fishing guide just told me the same thing. Said most people make the mistake of washing in hot water. That’s the worst thing you can do for poison ivy. Wash it in cold water

Honest answer, though I am not sure it's great for you, rub lime powder (calcium hudroxide). It will draw all the oils up due to pulling out moisture. Once caked, I rinse it off, and it is no longer itchy and is gone rapidly.

Steroid Shot, prednisone for a week, a steroid cream and take antihistamines like Clariton. Also no hot water on infected area as it will make it itch worse.

I had a break out like on a Sunday. The next day we were mixing cement and the cement dried it out better than any medicine I’ve ever used. I wouldn’t mix a sack for it though. Just an FYI

I've always scrubbed the area with rubbing alcohol. Burns like hell, but dries it up fast. However, my dad is highly allergic and has to get a steroid shot ASAP. Guess it depends on the person.

I had poison ivy all over about 3 months ago and bleach bath did the trick. Just a word from personal experience about that, I learned the hard way. Use regular strength bleach and maybe just a couple of capfuls. I used concentrated bleach and a half cup. It wiped the poison ivy out, and subsequently gave me a nice chlorine burn on the bottoms of my feet. They were blistered up like a son of a bitch. But it did work, no bullshite!

Time is honestly about it

There are some creams out there that can help temporarily relieve itching but you can do the same with really hot water. They will tell you that can spread it but I’m really badly allergic to it and have no evidence at all of the hot water method spreading it. Not once

This is the case If you are within 12 hours or so or coming in contact with the oils but in my experience once the rash has appeared the damaged has already been done, all you can do is try to relieve the itch

But keep in mind as I said earlier, I’m extremely allergic and have literally tried everything with seemingly no difference being made in shortening the duration of the rash including bleach, hot water, steroid shots, steroid pills, OTC creams, rubbing alcohol, you name it....

Depends on where and how wide spread

Plate oils will bind to skin within 30 minutes and basically require the effect layers of skin to fall off with their normal cycle. Histamine is what causes the itch. It’s the reaction to the foreign substance. You can use a histamine blocker or you can drain the cells in the area of histamine

To drain the cells run hot water over the blisters, slowly increasing tens to what you can bare. It will burn/itch like crazy but after a few minutes no more itch for 10-12 hours

I used to get poison ivy really bad when I was a kid. The only thing I found that really knocked it out quickly was an Rx for Mometasone from my doctor. It’s the best.
