Bose mini sound bar hands down. I had two JBLs, a Altec, and a Cambridge soundworks, gave them all away when I got the Bose.

I really like my Awia Exos 9. It is $300 at Amazon but not small...about the size of a medium microwave oven and weights about 15 lbs. Remarkably good bass, but the treble needs some help.

I am on my third and last sony XB. Great sound, but after 6 months of regular use the batteries don't take a charge. Just becomes a household unit stuck to the wall charger.

Second the Bose Soundlink 2, have had mine 5 years and it is awesome for the size. Gets very loud.

Was gifted one of these.. Got rid of our JBL Flip 4 and Charge 3 after receiving it, and regret it every day

The Bose has better sound, but we constantly find ourselves having to reconnect it to Alexa.

Also we really liked being able to use the JBL's in a "poor man's Sonos" whole-home setup.. From what I've researched, the Revolve doesn't really offer this in any convenient solution

I have had a Bose sound link II, my son has a JBL Flip 3, and my replacement for the Bose is a JBL Charge 4.
The Bose sounded the best but after years of use, the battery quit charging. My son's Flip 3 sounded good but not up to the rich sound the Bose put out.
My new Charge 4 is big. Maybe twice the size of the Flip 3. Great battery life(20 hours) and you can charge your phone from it if your phone battery is low.
Sound quality on the Flip 3 is surprisingly better than the Charge 4, but the Charge 4 is a lot louder.
The JBL's can be linked together by an app so you can synch up to 100 of them if you are at a beach and your friends all have them.

Try the Wonderboom. If you have a Costco card they usually have them in packs of two several times a year for about $75. They are completely water proof because mine have been Rained on and also fell into the lake and pool. They sound great and can be paired together. Mine are 2 years old and wouldn’t trade them for anything. Fully charged they last between 8-10 hours.

I can also vouch for the OontZ Angle 3 Ultra (3rd Gen) 5.0 Bluetooth Speaker

Cheap, always works, sounds good for the size.

I went with the Sony bc I use it in the boat. The JBL just looked like it would constantly be rolling around with its round design. I've heard the JBL after purchasing the Sony, and the Sony has a better sound.

Really can't go wrong with either.

I may be a moron here with this question...

But why do you connect a bluetooth speaker to an Alexa speaker? Isn't the Alexa speaker all you would need?

Those Echo speakers or whatever they are actually called.. have really good sound.
