I've often wondered how parents make decisions like this if they have children. Schools out in the boonies are typically very lacking in money, good teachers, transportation and, if your kid is into sports, difficult to have solid competition.

I believe it.

Your day to day isn’t affected by liberals anyway. I’ve had plenty of great times in LA, San Fran, NYC, etc. and politics never once came up.

Seems like the overwhelming OT consensus is we should just ignore all of this. No big deal. It doesn’t effect you, why care

just get off social media bruh. I'm assuming you don't regularly associate with the SJW type. So that would lead me to believe you're only seeing them on social media. Easy solution. Delete that shite.

I don’t think that’s it at all.

It’s more that the craziness you see on the news isn’t indicative of real everyday life in these “liberal shitholes.”

A lot of people in podunk Louisiana towns act like they know how it is in other places because they saw a story on OAN or something.

This absurd/craziness of cancel culture and all is an extremely vocal minority that we’re catering to for some reason. It isn’t indicative of life in very blue cities.

Even here in WA all I have to do is turn off the TV and they disappear. I don't ever see them out IRL. I don't live in King County though so I'm buffered from some of the worst of it.

Just look at the by-county results from the 2016 electoral college. You pretty much have the run of the whole country outside of the northeast and the coastal regions of the west coast, and the major cities. By geography, the vast majority of the country is center right if not conservative. No need to freeze your butt off in the remote upper midwest if you don't want to. There's plenty of places in the sun belt.

Totally. Even some overwhelmingly liberal forums/websites seem to think this cancel culture is absurd.

just so i'm clear on OT jargon - is this what the far right, nazi sympathizing, white supremacists get their news from?

you can say it's the 'vocal minority' and while in the sense of #'s they may be a minority, but their every want, wish, desire is being catered to because no one will tell them "No". So i'm not sure they can be talked about as a 'minority' anymore.

i guess the riots, protests and related property damage and arrests over the last month were imaginary? Would you assume that crime goes up or goes down in these blue cities after cops back off?

And there are conservative enclaves all up and down the west coast. It's not all San Francisco and Seattle. In fact, most of it is nothing like those places. Half of western OR, for instance, has more in common with Kansas than it does Portland and the eastern half of the state is solid red.

I don't have any experience with the northeast but I'm sure it's true there as well.

It's not limited to podunk towns. I have a neighbor here in suburban Birmingham that won't go downtown after dark because he's convinced the entire downtown is a war zone.

Idaho is being overran with Cali transplants. North And East Texas are both pretty dang SJW free. I mean the real north Texas as in Decatur Jacksboro etc and the real east Texas in Jasper Palestine etc.

Relative to social politics, we have entered into an intellectual dark age here.

I had a dispassionate conversation with two attorneys this week, both of whom branded ordinary conservatives who have been bitching about cancel culture as “alt-right” — when I pointed out that Alt-right is actually a brand that was invented by an actual, publicly visible white supremacy group, and that the term is now derogatorily used to disparage legitimate points of view, they just shrugged. It’s not their fault, they hear this shite 5x daily and just misunderstand the terminology, which is dangerous.

Because you see, there is no room for nuance now. You are a racist or you support the cause. I say this as someone who has never voted for a republican presidential candidate.

Well there’s a guy on the food board currently too afraid to go to Tony’s, so apparently this is a thing
