Best place to design and buy an engagement ring?

Did a search and of course got Kay, jared, James Allen, forevermark etc.
Was wondering if anyone had any experience with custom jewelry with any of those highly marketed businesses. Or if there is a better local place in louisiana to go to?

Beje designs in Metairie is fantastic. They can fit any budget. Everything they do is custom and you can pick exactly what you want at the price you want to spend. Not your typical jewelry store. 504-832-1115.

Paul's Jewelry in Lafayette is where I went and designed my wife's ring, Jacob at their River Ranch location does an amazing job working with you to get exactly what you want.

Go on BlueNile.com and order a loose diamond then go to your local jewelry store and pick out a band and have them set it. Wil end up saving you a good bit. Keep in mind most jewelry prices are marked up 300% or so. You have room to negotiate

You can buy stones from Blue Nile, but keep in mind that the stones on there are typically the ones that don't show well in person.

if you are in Baton Rouge, i would highly recommend
Southern Crafts
2625 Aubin Ln
Baton Rouge, LA 70816
(225) 292-0150
if you are looking for something truly custom. He made my wife's rings, and he took an old ring that belonged to my late grandmother, melted it down and used the gold to make my band.
EDIT: the owner's name is Art

Just cut off your balls and place them on top your wallet. Hand wallet to girlfriend.
Save money.

I did Jared Allen. Picked out the loose diamond first, they have a good explanation on what each of the ratings mean and visuals which helps out a lot.
You can also skype a jeweler to walk you through what you are looking at or evaluate a stone you are interested in.
The bands are pretty generic but I found one that worked cause they have a lot of options. They send you the ring, paperwork and appraise the final value for you if you want it to be insured. I took it to a place in town and they were pretty close to the appraisal Allen gave it.
Ultimately, it's cheaper than buying from a store if you know what your looking for, less overhead for them to cover. It's also tax free which can expand your price range for em.
They also do sales for valentines day and such that you can get 30-40% off bands, that's where my fiance and I bought ours as well and we checked local jewelers and Allen was far cheaper in terms of wedding bands.

What do you mean by this? Blue Nile diamonds are graded by GIA just like everyone else.

They (some) are the stones that don't sell at brick and mortar stores. Sure they have the GIA cert, but they don't have the window appeal to sell in stores.

We had my wife's ring melted down and she designed the new one last year for our 10th. Layne's in Gonzales did it and she loves it. Turned out to be fairly inexpensive even with my new band included.

Yea but those are ranked different. You'd have to look at the cut, color ect. They definitely have some crappier diamonds that don't have mass retail appeal but the price reflects that

As in the 4c's of cut, clarity, color and carat? This is an international standard for grading diamonds based on actual facts as to the quality of the diamond.
There is no window appeal grading. Sounds like you own a brick and mortar jewelry store.
Blue Nile has diamonds of all grades. If you buy a cheap low grade diamond with inclusions and a bad cut then that's what you get. If you choose a better quality diamond then that's what you get.

KG Jeweler in Baton Rouge. Will design/make any ring you want and you wont find a better price.
I gave him a few concepts and ideas for my wife's engagement ring and he mocked it up on his computer and nailed it.
I wouldn't go anywhere else.
