I fly a lot. Very rarely more than 10 minute line though TSA.

And believe it or not but we have one of the cleanest and nicest bathrooms in that airport. I’ve been all over and MSY is still the nicest.

I will never understand this feature of the old or new airport. I don’t need to be screamed at picking up my 80 year old parents on a Tuesday evening. This doesn’t seem to happen at any other airport like it does at MSY.

It happens at IAH in Houston. Burger King quality workers love flexing what little authority they have in between stints of welfare.

There's NORTA Downtown Express and JP E-1 that takes you to Canal Blvd. and City Park Avenue to the streetcar line.

It was a terrible idea/design. It would have been worse had the new airport not removed a wall.

When I first saw the blueprints of the new airport I asked where were the other carousels at....got the stink eye. We knew from the jump that this wasn't going to work well.

While I agree with the OP's sentiment 1000% I cannot agree with this;

quote:

It’s actually a really nice airport.

There's a lot of lipstick on this pig.
As a passenger and weekly user of the airport I see;
constantly sinking ramps leading to and from the upstairs departures area. The down ramp has already been fixed once and will likely need to be fixed annually
A poorly designed arrivals area where the traffic lanes flood during moderate rain showers
A bank of escalators where at least 1 is consistently inop
Glass panes at TSA that have been broken for more than 2 years

The ramp area/tarmac is sinking and pulling away from the main foundation, leading to problems at baggage claim.
All 3 parking garages are undersized and consistently full, as is the airport itself. They are planning to add more gates but it's obvious someone flubbed the initial design, which was then revised to add 5 more gates before they even broke ground. Remember the flyover that came 4 years post-opening?
But they are spending a shite ton of money - $84.5 million - building an Express Shuttle Connector road so the rental car, economy parking, and employee shuttle busses won't have to use Veterans, thereby shortening the time in transit. What a joke! As far as I can see they will be using the existing access road which then will join a new (under construction) loop around the north end less than 1/4 mile from Veterans. So an asphalt road about a mile long all for the low cost of $84.5 million!

As nice as the new terminal is relative to the old one, it's obvious it was poorly designed and executed.

It's up there, especially the one on the first floor to the left by the parking garage. However, I just had a layover in San Diego, and that bathroom was spotless.
