Same with Gap. They’re always running some sort of discount. They last a long time and have a nice fit. The only problem I’ve had was the olive pair has faded after 2 summers of wear.
If you’re going to put on a Polo occasionally, think about the shoes and belt combo you’re going to wear.

Birddogs are my go to. But if you want a belt and to tuck in your collard shirt you will need to go with something else. Definitely helped me with ball sweat on the golf course in the middle of the summer.
My club requires a tucked in shirt and belt like civilized people

Duckhead Harbor Performance Shorts. Hadn't heard of the brand in years. Thought they were gone. Was recently gifted a pair and went back and bought multiple colors.

I wear BirdDogs or Bear Bottom chino shorts.

Good ones can be found online at Banana Republic factory outlet. The ones with the sort of shiny finish don’t shrink, which was a huge reason I stopped getting “nice” shorts at J Crew.

Happy to confess that I haven't even heard of some of these brands.

The BCG from Academy is good, the Ben Hogan from Wal Mart are surprisingly good! Or splurge for some Foot Joy.

Catch J. Crew on sale.

Amazon essentials. $15-$18. I’ve got five or six pair. They’re pretty much what I wear everyday from April-September

I’m a chubbies guy, but aim short so the shorter inseam works for me.

Chubbies occasionally has "regular" shorts now also- flat front without the stretch waist and are presentable with a pole
But also recommend the short inseam filson's for a tough outside more casual short.
And the brooks brothers stretch shorts that don't look like stretch as a step up in dress.
Bonobos also a good goto, still available at perlis but recently taken over by Walmart

I usually do this. However, the ones I have on now have front pockets that annoy me. Too vertical. Orvis brand btw.

Under armour cargo shorts but they can be pricey and sometimes you can find them on sale. Lululemon is another good brand imo I try to wait till they are on sale which seems to be very seldom. They are pricey as well.
