$2 pitchers, Kirk Holder on Tuesday's, Foghorn Leghorn and those huge Fried Cheese sticks.
It was my go to spot in college and in the following years. Had many dates with my now wife that started or ended there. Many a good memory.
Kirk played there Christmas night for the first time in many years just a few days before the fire and was able to have one last great time there.

The night of the fire, I am riding (someone else was driving) down Perkins coming from Ivar’s shite hammered drunk and get to Perkins and Acadian. They had Perkins shut down diverting traffic onto Stanford and the District Attorney was directing traffic. Blew my drunk mind that the DA was directing traffic for the Caterie Fire.

The label moved them all out to L.A. And after a year or so of touring the label wanted them to re-record Make Your Move, which they did, and the label just sat on the album. During that time Meriwether just toured all over the county. I'm not 100% but I want to say 08-09 they were touring 9-10 months out of the year. After getting frustrated they left the label and put out an independent album called Plug in the Snakes which was pretty damn good. Shortly after that a few guys in the band got married, had kids and decided to call it quits. That's when the second iteration of Meriwether happened. About '11-'13. Now they just do the yearly reunion shows and maybe 1 or 2 others during the year. They're always a good time.
I pretty much stayed between NGT and the Caterie from '04-'10 when it burned down. I just remember being hungover as hell with about 200 others on New Year's Day watching it burn. shite sucked. Lots of good times back then.

Forgot about those!
I’d usually drink whatever was $2 on any given night. One of my most vivid Caterie memories involves getting drunk with my sister on a lot of $2 bottles of Coors Light. It was a blast.

Funny story from the day the Caterie burned....It was New Years Day and I was in Nola with my ex. We decided to stay that day and watch the LSU game at Masquerade. To kill time, she wanted to go to her friends apartment in the Warehouse District. I found out a little to late she didnt know exactly where it was. We went into some apartment building and she found his apartment, no answer at the door so she tried the handle and it was unlocked. We go inside, she sits on the couch and I help myself to a beer. She kept saying he wouldnt mind. Well, after about 20 minutes, she picked up a piece of mail to start writing him a note. The name on the mail was Mike McKenzie. We were in the wrong apartment and it happened to be a damn NFL players apartment. We quickly got the hell out of there. We later found out that her friend lived on the next floor up, same location of apartment. I guess I owe Mike a beer.

Delta Crutch and Spank the Monkey

Thinking back, that was a pretty random or even bad location, but if so just more a credit to it that it became such an institution. It's unpolished but genuine feel fit the vibe of 80s/90s so perfectly.

I played the Caterie many times between 01 and when it burned. Most of those gigs were with 6 pack deep. Darren and his staff always treated us well. The food was good, too. We would always meet up there when leaving for out-of-town gigs. Grabbing a bite at the Caterie was a must, along with grabbing a few beverages for the road at the liquor store a few doors down. You never know when you’d hit a dry town like Tyler, TX.

1979: Hot as frick chick grabbed my arse. I turned to her and grabbed hers.
We wound up in the backseat of my car in the parking lot.
She became a regular frick.
Good times.

Used to go all the time to see Spank The Monkey in the early 2000's. We always sat up on the balcony where the pool tables were and looked down to the stage. The food was pretty good. And the $2 kamikaze shots would frick you up.
Good memories. Will always miss that place.

Fun times. It's not the best experience, but this is one of the more memorable moments. The main drainage line would sometimes get clogged from tampons being flushed down the toilets. The drains would backup including the one drain on the dance floor. People would be dancing in shite water and have no clue.
I'm pretty sure Ive taken at least a decade of my life off from partying at the Caterie.

Neither. I preferred the station, nightlife and triple A.

Yep. My best experiences were any given Amos Moses gig in the 90s and the couple of times in early 00s that the Caterie hosted the Mardi Gras Rugby Tournament After Party. Those were nuts.
