I've never encountered a golden retriever that wasn't gentle and sweet. They really are probably the best and most loyal pet.
I've encountered a few Labradors and golden doodles that are more "protective" over their families and not as accepting around other dogs.
a golden doodle is also too yuppy of a dog.

Yep-Go for the Yorkie if you want an indoor dog. Great personalities-no shedding and great with the kids.

I googled this question years ago. The first article that came up said Boykin Spaniel. So I went to South Carolina and bought one. Best pet decision ever!

When I see these threads I always see a decent amount more votes for golden retrievers than labs.
I was always genuinely curious as to what the reason is for that?
I have 2 labs and I'd think goldens are virtually the same in many ways, so I always wondered what set them apart.

I love my Great Dane. Sure, she is huge, but she is so chill. She could be an apartment dog, doesn't bark and so calm. A lot of people are intimidated due to her size, but she is the sweetest/best dog I have ever had.
I grew up with labs, and they are great dogs. They just require too much exercise and their energy level is too high for me.

Every single answer you're going to get with this question is that persons favorite breed or breeds...oh and that answer is a Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff)

Dunno but I hate fricking ankle biters of any breed. Everytime someone is walking their ankle biter and it bows up and barks at me, I want to kick the little bastards across the street.

Brittany is always up in the rankings of best breed for a pet. They are easily trained and very low maintenance.

Where are you located? Ive got this beauty for sale on Craigslists right now. I just saw a $1000 offer, but I'd rather not deal with that buyer.

I have a Chihuahua, he's a great dog...for the family, hates everyone he doesn't know. Isn't interested in getting to know them.
My folks have a Jack Russell. Great dog for the family, a lot more willing to give someone they don't know a chance after a little while to get used to them.
