I think track guidance has improved as the smart people better understand the external factors that steer a hurricane, and how those will develo days in advance.
Intensity guidance I think is somewhat external factors like sea temps or shear, but also internal factors that seem harder to figure out.

We need to remove one of the seldom used squares and replace it with "Someone says 'Off the table' when referring to a storm's possible path."

Katrina is a different story altogether, but being in New Orleans the first several weeks after Isaac and Ida weren’t terribly fun. Just a weird vide all around, and everything was operating weirdly. May not matter for a resort experience, but I’d probably pass if that’s an option.
But who knows. Also so hard to get the real lay of the land until you there.
