It's not great.

There is some good news. Most of the modeling is taking it over or close enough to Jamacia that the circulation is gonna get disrupted. It'll probably be re-organizing some (though, we're still talking a hurricane at this point).

Locals down there will likely remember Ivan, but it dodged south of Jamacia and was in-tact as it roared into the Caymans.

thanks for the info. If you have any more info as the day progresses let me know and I would greatly appreciate it

I assume the cruise industry will have extra days at sea if there’s complete devastation in those ports. I’ll be taking a cruise two months from now to Cozumel so hoping there’s something left.

The industry will recover as quickly as possible. There is too much money to be made. Plus the cruise ports getting back to business helps the local economies and thus the local people recover also.

If you remember, in 2007, Cat 5 Hurricane Dean literally wiped out the Costa Maya (Mahahual) port. I believe it was rebuilt and reopened in about 11 months.

I'm going to say, we're playing with tight margins. Keep a close eye on things.

I rescheduled our Playa Mujeres trip for Labor Day weekend.

If a storm is coming then, we have flight and tickets for Vegas where no hurricanes exist.

We have friends coming into town from Houston tomorrow, staying until Sunday. Sunday could be interesting for them trying to fly back.
