You better just plan to go to Bay St. Louis. It's trashy AF, but at least you will be safer than being in Jamaica.

Went to Negril on our Honeymoon and couldn’t stop going back, only thing that stopped that was a daughter

Great memories, hit Jamamerican status (10 trips), Rock House, nice.

Yes, i’m just wondering why not more? A summer thunderstorm will be rumbling like crazy. To me it seems a huge hurricane would stay lit up. Just curious is all.

There goes the rest of the Louisiana Homeowners insurance writers after this season. Local housing market will be in the shitter. People will exit, rightfully so.

I moved back from Texas… I’m not leaving. This is home… I’m probably dumb but oh well.

Stayed and rebuilt after Laura and delta… I’ll pull and lieutenant Dan

The winds are different in hurricanes as opposed to thunderstorms over land. A thunderstorm produces updrafts, or rising air. That air carries rain upward to heights where the temperature is low enough to freeze it. That frozen precip collides and such, causing static electricity to build and discharge as lightning. Hurricanes lack that vertical wind component and also have a warm core of air which just isn't cold enough to freeze the precip.

This map says 42 feet significant wave height which means individual waves could be more than twice that in the 85 to 90 foot range.

That was also produced when Beryl was a Cat 4 so 42 may not be the max.

The nearest buoy is only 9 feet at the moment but it is ~250 miles away. Should get interesting in about 9 to 10 hours.

Nope.

You're not dumb.

Louisiana is home. It's in the blood. Even those who leave feel the pull. I put 10,000 miles between me and home... And I'll be damned if I ever do it again.

Treasure Beach is isolated along the southern coast, but stunningly beautiful and pristine with surgery white sands.
Treasure Beach in St. Elizabeth's Parish? Not sure what you are talking about but it most certainly does not have "surgery white sands". The main place where that's true is Negril. Much of the rest of the island (including TB) is the disappointing Eastern Seaboard dark/dirty type of sand.

They pave the way for future storms! An old wives tale.

I actually think it’s better since the energy is consumed in that area.

I really pray this isn’t a harbinger for the rest of the season
