For one, nobody was out on the roads until 11:30 or 12
They certainly weren’t driving and then climbing ladders in the middle of a hurricane.
Now, it’s much calmer and I’m sure the workers are at their jobs.
I do wonder if CenterPoint is going to be judged harshly if they don’t have the same success as they did with Harvey. They had power up for a lot of people quite quickly after Harvey, I remember being very impressed.

Has anyone seen any water boil notices? I’ve googled and haven’t found anything, so I think all is good.

Assuming you mean power estimates. Anything you hear now is just blind speculation. They can't even gets buckets in the air yet. Some very low fidelity assessments might be happening, but even those will be limited.

Whitmire said water and pressure were good a couple hours ago and that was after the worst had passed. Haven't heard anything contrary. One poster in Rice Military said he lost water but thats the only thing i've heard other than some neighbors on facebook who had trees tear up their water lines.

Of power restoration?
Centerpoint used have a good map that showed number impacted in a particular area and then ability to see estimate of your own restoration…. Not any more

NWS Shreveport not going comfirmed on that one to the east is.....questionable.

10 warned areas right now. Cell SE of Leesville looks to be getting right.

Folks on the NE side of Shreveport take cover. A tornado is on the ground heading towards Red Chute and Haughton.
It still does not have a confirmed tag from NWS Shreveport.

Maybe just now getting out. OSHA limits aerial lifts to 30MPH. Most companies have tighter restrictions and come in at 25MPH. And it's kind of like a lightning strike near a stadium, get one gust and you're sitting around waiting for 30 minutes, then get another one, etc. They'll probably drive around and visually assess or secure downed lines for the rest of the afternoon. I wouldn't expect any significant progress until tomorrow.

I'm by no means an expert of power grids, but here in Dallas we had a major freeze and power was out for days in sub 20 degree temps. Crazy.
I recall certain pockets of certain neighborhoods still had power because apparently they are on the same "mini" grid as a hospital or fire station.
Not sure if any folks are lucky enough to be in that situation in Houston. We sure weren't.
Wishing y'all the best, Fellow Texans.

You talking about NE Shreveport?
But seriously, thanks for the updates and work you are putting in.

Gotta go for a bit. You folks in Shreveport keep your heads down.

That was a different issue. There was a huge imbalance of generations because a ton gen units went down (wind turbines frozen, pipelines frozen up, nuke reactor cooling pond pump froze, solar covered in ice, etc)
This is a transmission and distribution grid damage issue.

Critical infrastructure is usually in a storm hardened grid and also get priority for repairs. Being on one of those is lucky indeed. They can still fail if the transmission network is sufficiently damaged but will come back sooner.
