That may have been a tornado in Kirbyville just a few minutes ago.

I have two big trees that are too big for me to get off the house. Do I have to wait for insurance to show up or should I try to hire someone else out first? I’d like to get a tarp over the roof asap

Most policies state, "To protect property from further loss!"

Take pictures, keep receipts and records.

Yes, occasional gusts to prob 40, but no rain. Still overcast.

Lots of people out now surveying damage

Low spots have water, so some road impassable

Tarp over and take lots of pics at the least. If that stops the rain coming in and situation is safe, try to get adjuster out. If not, do what you have to do to keep further damage from occuring but be sure to document everything, including damage to belongings inside house

Insurance is going to want you to get moving as quickly as possible to keep further damage from happening.

Get a tree service to come out and get the tree off and cover the holes in the roof asap.

Owlie hasn't posted, but I think his area is without power and cell service per others in the area.

Waiting. Cell service is awful. Have a generac so as long as a tornado doesn’t get me, should be ok.
