You think by the time it gets to Henderson/Nacogdoches area, the wind will be significantly lower? Not worried about the rain.

It'll still be gusty. Just had a 48mph gust with that band in Lufkin.

Center of circulation is over The Woodlands now. What’s left of the center.

It went straight up from Sugarland past Cypress (directly over my house and work) to The Woodlands. Beryl was a lot worse than predicted and still a Cat when when it started coming through in the early hours of the morning. I thought she'd have lost some strength by the time she got here, but I guess she went so fast that she hadn't died down much yet.

That's gonna be one of the big headaches throughout the day....spin-up tornadoes. I think we're approaching 20 warnings already.

Sometimes here they will turn the power off mid way if it is bad until they can make sure its safe

Hoping that’s it and will be thrown back on early afternoon.

Crazy it survived the storm only to go out after rain and major winds passed.

Looks like the high res CAMs did pretty well with Barrel leading into and after landfall. I was interested to see how the HRRR and NAM did with the continued strengthening and the structural improvement. They locked in as soon as they came into range and didn't falter on this storm looking it's best right at and even after landfall.

It’s funny how much of a habit turning the lights on is. I know we don’t have power but that doesn’t stop me from flipping the switch every time I walk in a room

For the derecho I couldn’t remember if I had turned my disposals on or not so I unplugged them until the power came back.

Five days.

Five days is how long it takes to stop doing that every time you walk in a room. After five days you only do it half the time you walk in a room, but 100% of the time when you walk in the bathroom. The bathroom is the hardest to overcome.

They already have a ton of trucks at Sam Houston Racetrack that came in early. That's always been their staging area. After Ike, they had a tent city there for weeks.

I have a client that was with her husband at MD Anderson today for appointments. We have a mediation scheduled tomorrow. The appointments at MD were cancelled. I warned them not to travel, but the response was they are about to try to get home (DeRidder).

Any info on road closures would be appreciated. I don't know that they will even be able to get out of Houston.
