People who already like Ben & Jerry will continue eating their ice cream, but if they get involved in something controversial, it will gain customers who will support them just because they support something that person is passionate about.
Nike proved this with their Kaepernick support. Companies are not interested in doing anything that will hurt business..
I use to like Ben & Jerry's, but then one of the flavors I liked was no longer available where I grocery shop so I tried a few different flavors over time and came to the conclusion they just throw shite together and that it seemed like they would put too much of each flavor so I just went back to Blue Bell.
