Under a single banner. This was key because up until this point, although formidable, the steppes were never a serious threat to civilized society as a whole because they did not have the numbers to conquer but under the great khan they did. Now my question is for those who know more than I do on the subject, how much of what is modern day Mongolia/Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan/China did he consolidate under his rule before attacking the major cities? Does anyone know this?

Did he have rampaging chimps to fight against his enemies?

Kind of a hijack but I always wondered if the character Mance Rader in GoT was based on Ghengis Khan.

Both men united tribes that had been enemies forever to create a great fighting force.

Why can't we get a good movie or series about this dude...

Their legendary horsemanship would be pretty cool to see on the big screen.

The Dothraki are based on the Central Asian horse warrior tribes like the Mongols and the Huns from earlier.

The Wildlings seem more based on Scottish Highlanders and their clans.

Think of Mance Rader as more of a William Wallace or a Robert Bruce.

The Netflix series “Marco Polo” had a good amount of horsemanship and Genghis as a main character. Very entertaining, with historical fact weaves into the story.

Obviously a fictional series, but shreds of fact everywhere. Well worth the watch if you ask me.
