Second of all, I think you need to stand up against the mass drug/alcohol testing of minors because of massively insufficient evidence.
I would say finding beer cans by theme that weren't there before is ample evidence.

At my HS the running joke was that if you wanted to blaze you had to do it with the headmaster's kid so you wouldn't get suspended.

I'm sure everyone in this thread saying the school is in the right would be just fine with their employer drug testing every one of their employees because they found a joint in the parking lot.
Right?
Right?

My high school drug tested the whole school when I was a senior. They told kids that admitted they were going to fail to come forward and receive a lesser punishment. A handful of idiots went and told on themselves. Turns out that it's illegal for a schools teachers to administer screens and must be done by an outside company. All the samples where then inadmissible and the kids that admitted were then suspended.

I don't do drugs so that would be fine with me. However, most employers as a condition of employment have that right at any time.

How do you know they weren't there? Also, I hope you don't have a kid who walks down almost any street in Louisiana because according to you that'd be ample evidence

About 75 students ended up being tested at emergency rooms in Morristown, Denville and Dover, DailyRecord.com said. Fewer than five tested positive for alcohol.
great job

Kids can't mess up anymore. And people wonder why millennials don't get in fights and all that masculine jazz.

I would have a problem if my kid was walking down the street and the school said he needed to get tested. That is no the same thing as drinking at a school function.
I assumed that like most stadiums it was cleaned before the game.

So, your kid breaks the law and school policy at a school function and you don't think they should be suspended?
Show me the proof first.

I think it's illegal for companies to "throw out a cast net" to catch drug users. It either has to be a random company wide test or the result of reasonable suspicion. Don't see why a public high school should be held to a different standard.

Not the point.

Random drug screening =/= grabbing all employees in a single building.

That is what the test is for and not taking the test is an admission of guilt. I feel quite certain this is covered in the school's handbook.

That's like saying I have nothing to hide so I don't care if the government tracks my phone.

No, it's not. I have rights as a citizen (supposedly) to some level of privacy. As a student you can be drug tested any time for any reason.

Yes, on condition that when I'm clean I get a raise. If they fire the guy who tests positive, then I should get a reward for testing negative.

So in this backwards reality, you have to prove your innocence beyond a reasonable doubt?
