99% chance you somehow frick him over and he will still show up to help you move down the line. She will leave your arse whenever it’s convenient for her, frick her over and she will burn down your new house before you can get that guy to help you move in. You made the correct choice.

I think he was so happy to get a full price cash offer that he caved and gave them whatever they wanted. Then when he started calling movers was like "Oh, sheet". If he can't find a mover then he can renegotiate occupancy date. That's between him and the buyer, not my problem.

I hear you — but sounds like he got good money for his house, so someone will do it for the right price.

Last time I moved in my own was ~24 - buddy helped me move a 1BR within the apartment on the same floor. Took couple of hours to do the big stuff. Since then, frick that. I will always pay for someone to move me

If you said "I am helping him, period". Don't be a pussy. You already ended all discussion and told her how it's going to be.

Attend the party man…you don’t back out on something like this with your gf. You told her initially you would go, you gotta go. No doubt about it…and your gf has every right to be pissed. Also, you never back out of a commitment with your gf to make plans with a friend. You should know better

Isn't this the only possible way poor people could move heavy furniture?

No two ways about it, she knows and understands the situation so she is going to prove to both you and herself that she holds the reins of command in this relationship and will drive your buggy wherever she wants.
Hell to pay forever if you let her lead you by the nose. There are better women out there.

I didnt even read your post, but here is a life lesson. If you are a male and she is a female, then you are wrong and it is your fault. Even if you’re right, you’re wrong. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will begin to crack the code on dealing with the opposite sex.

For the millionth time.

He was planning on hiring a mover.
He can afford to hire a mover.
HE CAN'T FIND A MOVER THAT IS AVAILABLE THAT WEEKEND !

I spoke to him told him to stall the closing until it aligns with earliest available mover.

Fortunately the contract says 7 days from closing instead of a hard date.

If he has a "family emergency" what are they going to do, walk away from the deal and eat the deposit ?

Obviously they want the place to offer full price.

Pretty interesting the differing opinions on this.
No wonder married people fight so much.

Honestly, your friend is an idiot to accept a family to live in his house for 7 days. While I get it from the family’s perspective… never a good thing to let strangers live in your house after the fact. If they don’t leave, there will be major problems.

Are other female attendees bringing dates? Why would the sister care if you’re there or not? I’m 54 but can’t imagine caring if my boyfriend attends my sisters 21 bday with me.

That said can you figure out a way to do both? I myself don’t see this as a reason for her to blow a gasket.

People are so high maintenance these days.

Which one gives you the pussy?

Op’s friend is a loser. Who the frick sells a house and then asks their friend to move them out? I couldn’t even imagine having that mindset

Moving sucks arse once you are out of college and settled into the real world you hire movers he just sold his house and was happy with the amount he can afford it

He’s 100% lying about not being able to find movers
