Dude, I had a pit growing up. Great dog. A close friend of mine has the sweetest pit in the world, kinda like the runt looking type dog. Not the big block head type pit. So I hear you. I’ve been around some great pit bulls.
But there is a plethora of statistics available with a simple goodie search that will validate nearly every point made in this thread. They attack people more than any other dog. Maybe it’s due to breeding and fighting them, idk. But you’re willingness to die on this hill is absurd. You can admit not all pit bulls are killers and still recognize that the breed as a whole has a lot of bad apples.

Also as a kid was chased and nipped on the leg by one riding my bike. I'm just thankful he didn't get a good bite and the owner saw him and called him back. That dog was vicious and I still don't like them to this day.
I have my reasons. Frick both of em. I'm not comparing them to each other.

It was a bloody mess. I thought my dog had killed someone. I had to fight with the town I was in for 2 days to get him back. They intended to put him down, for defending his own property.
I ended up telling the mayor that if they killed my dog, I was going to sue the city, naming him, and everyone involved.

Good point.
If you’re a shitty owner but you own a small dog, they physically can’t do all that much damage... so they might suck, but they’re unlikely to kill someone. If you are a shitty owner and your dog is large and physically strong, it’s a much more dangerous situation.

Pitt Bulls, in every study I’ve seen, are at minimum top 2 in frequency of attacks. And really, it’s only one study that has them at #2 behind Labrador Retrievers. Every other study I’ve seen lists Pitt Bulls at #1.
And Pitt Bulls are by far the most lethal, according to studies. Of all of the fatal dog attacks over the past decade, over 64% were killed by a Pitt Bull.
Look, you have a Pitt bull and want to defend the breed, but don’t lie and then accuse others of lying just because the truth is uncomfortable for you.

if you actually read scientific peer reviewed studies posted on the previous page, they concluded that specfic breed bans are inneffective prevention dog bites/related fatalities. But wait, if breed isnt the important factor what is? There are multiple factors such as whether the dog is restrained, public or private property that are important for dog attacks, BUT FOCUSING ON BREED IS NOT ONE OF THESE FACTORS.
Just because you feel some type of way about pit bulls, does not mean they are violent machines, even if there are scary charts you can google.
If you consider the fact that pit bulls are multiple breeds (3 or more depending on who you ask), its disingenuous/improper group multiple breeds to compare to single breed types. The scary charts you quickly google say "yo these 5 breeds grouped together are responsible for 4x the amount of attacks as other single breed dogs". lmao we have posters here saying they had 115 lb pit bulls. People literally wouldnt know a pit bull if it bit them on the arse.
