Ocean Springs is nicer. There’s more money and younger people / families. You are closer to the real beach as opposed to NOLA, so it’s a trade off.

Born in OS, raised in neighboring Biloxi

As I was getting older, going through school in LSU, I said I’d never come back

Older/wiser I’ve gotten, I’ve realized I’m in no rush to leave this place

Everyone loves to make fun of MS, but people are figuring out it’s got a lot of benefits without JBE or Mayor Cantrell. Low taxes, low crime, low traffic, good outdoors, low cost of living and yet people love to knock it. Seems weird people love to knock a state with those things.

Have you been to Jackson?

In his defense, visiting New Orleans/BR is WAYYYYY more fun than living in them

I love Murky Waters. I met their owner once. Super nice guy.

Where and when is the MW opening in the Bay?

I also heard either he or his girlfriend/wife bought the Pirate.

I’m surprised Hattiesburg doesn’t do more to market their city to retirees.

It’s not the coast but you’re not too far from it. Great restaurants and a college town to boot.

They bought it together I think.she’s a great guitarist and singer.

MW will be where Lulu’s was...in the parking lot that connects Beach Blvd to Main St by Cuz’s.

It’s not 30A, but you could toss a disk and have a beer or two in worse places.

Supposedly it's gone downhill since certain Katrina refugees showed up

Pascagoula, sleepy little town with not much action. No Casinos, Major Hotels or chain restaurants

Most people would never realize if they drove though, but Pascagoula is home to the largest Chevron refinery in the world, and Ingalls Shipbuilding which produces most of the warships for the Navy and employs about 14,000 people.

This is a class the grass is always greener post. You’d move there and have to deal with Jackson which is a combo of Nola and BR with none of the positives. MS has some nice places but most the appeal is how quickly I can get back here.

Gas station =/= BBQ joint.

I’m not taking the golf cart to BB’s on 90. I’ve always been a fan of their chopped beef sandwich though.

Timely post!

We are currently in MS, and the long term plan was to eventually get back to the north shore to be closer to family/friends. Looking from afar, it seems like a terrible plan...the MS coast seems to improving, while Louisiana seems to be trending down (if that’s possible) and there is no doubt the MS state government has handled this last year much more in line with my personal views.

We have a young family and in that area there is a new water park complex, aquarium, kids museum, on top of the beach, bike trails, everything else. They also have the casinos, sports books, fishing, beaches, and the big new entertainment venue Universal is building for the adults

We were considering the BSL area, but also looking at OS. My preference would be the west side of MS coast to be closer to family on north shore, but hoping someone here could suggest some neighborhoods to look at.

Young family of 4, don’t want to be on the water (but close would be nice), $400k ish would be budget.

BSL doesn’t have neighborhoods. Just come drive all the streets...and talk to a realtor.

Our private school setup is pretty nice if you’re going to go that route. They’re separated after 6th, so it’s all boys or alll girls 7-12th.
