I have a large chest type freezer that I freeze 5 gallon buckets of water in. Makes a big block.

I have the hoshizaki under counter that makes the sonic ice. I’m on my second one because the previous owner of the house didn’t have a water filter on it and didn’t keep up with cleaning and maintenance. scale deposits literally caused it to eat itself

Lanierlife, I’m assuming you are up at Lake Lanier. Are you a guide? I’ve got some friends who are always asking me about fishing guides (myself included).

Yea, its not exactly like mine but close. Its a older machine as well. It has a fairly large "hollowed" out area.

Yes, I have been full-time guiding on Lake Lanier for 21 years.

Haven't bought one yet. Kids and wife want sonic ice. But since it isn't great for most cocktails, I wants something bigger but not the top hat size. We shall see who wins...

My grandparents have always had the 1 inch square ice and I love it. Great for summer cocktails and ice water

I do like the hollow cubes for whiskey.

Had one double JW Black last night with a few cubes.

I wanted a sonic ice one when we did our renovation. It was going to cost more than the rest of our appliances combined and I could buy a bag from sonic twice a week for the next 16 years and still have not spent as much on the ice maker

Opted for the under-counter wine fridge in its place.

My buddy dug a catch basin in his yard, filled it with limestone, and has the drain line going into that. No more wet yard

I bought mine right at one year ago so I’m not sure if it’s the newest but I can control the size of the dimple. Not sure how much- will have to look at book again. I did adjust a little already but the caveat it that adjusting thicker makes the cubes all come off as more of a sheet all stuck together and you have to break them up.

The uline now gives you the ability to control the size of the dimple (ie hollowness of the cube). The square cube is 7/8" on all sides.

You have the top hat (aka gourmet) cube (Scotsman and others), you have the approx 1" square cube with the dimple on one side (U-line), you have the flat half cube (Kitchenaid) and you have the sonic ice Scotsman and others).

Best Icemaker on the market. I have recommended them to several friends and no one has had any negative issues!

If we are going to be serious on a Sat. 99.9% of TD is FWP material. Pretty awesome that we can wake up in a country and time in history when our biggest daily concerns aren’t finding food, getting killed / eaten or being abducted by our government.

Got that sonic ice baw. Now I only have to leave home when I need styrophome cups or to check knuckles.
