You're going to have to take them longer than a few days before you get addicted. I took them for 2.5 years before I had my back surgery in August. Took about 3 pretty shitty days to get back to normal.

Bad advice after the first few days. Continuing to take pain pills for extended periods actually increases pain and Decreases pain tolerance.

Had surgery Friday
I had surgery 17 days ago. Elbow, wrist and hand. I took 1 pill per day for 2 days. Didn't like the way it made me feel. Slow. Lethargic.
Tossed them.

How bad was your tear? I've had 3 labrum repairs and will probably need a few more surgeries to fix my shoulders next go around.
Shoulder surgery is tons of fun.

I had imagined sex reassignment surgery would be more painful than that

After the one, take a half a day for a day or two. But good taper

...its one script of perscribed painkillers. You won't be turning tricks for rone when it runs out.

About a year ago I had all four wisdom teeth and one molar removed at the same time. Oral surgeon prescribed Oxycontin and I took a total of four before stopping.
Last October I had surgery on my neck. Doctor fused three disks. I cannot remember what I was prescribed but took them for a while and was really starting to like it. I was glad when I finally stopped.

What kind of surgery?
Posted on 1/22/18 at 7:48 pm to GermantownTiger
You don't need to taper off if you've only been taking them for a few days or even a few weeks.
Now, a month or more, sure.

I didn't take pain meds during or after the spinal surgery...
Just an occasional Laproaigh and Macallan

I don't know what surgery you had and can't judge your pain, but I've had wisdom teeth cut out, a vasectomy, and gallbladder removed and always declined the pain meds. Motrin did the trick every time.
