Just take your pills straight, no taper.

Ummm, listen to your doctor, not a bunch of degenerates like us who sell off that shite. I had major surgery when I was in my teens where I had to be slowly weened off of the pain meds, but I’m guessing it’s more severe than yours. I remember getting pissed off when my parents refused to give me the pain meds I wanted, but I don’t remember any withdrawal symptoms since they did what the doctor told them. It hurt like frick, but I got over it.

From the CDC
"There’s nothing magical about five days versus six days, but with each day your risk of dependency increases fairly dramatically," said Bradley Martin of the CDC, one of the study authors

You took them 2.5 years then just stopped cold turkey?
Yeah. Why?

You're going to have to take them longer than a few days before you get addicted. I took them for 2.5 years before I had my back surgery in August. Took about 3 pretty shitty days to get back to normal.

What's not to believe? I have a pretty rough 3 days but other than that nothing exceptional.
ETA I had SI joint fusion.

That is one way people die from opiate overdoses. In 2016, more people died from opiates than all of the US deaths in the Vietnam conflict.
Take the meds as prescribed by a doctor. Stop being a douche who seeks approval from people on TD, and grow a pair.

Be it broken collarbone, fractured vertebrae, torn pectoral, or broken tooth, I use bourbon.
Had a bad experience with some meperidine and alcohol when I was 20. Never took a pain meds since. After being a zombie for three days, I forgot I was taking it (even though the inner ear infection he caused my ear drums to rupture) and drank three beers.
I "woke up" drive 65mph down the interstate singing hotel California at the top of my lungs. Acoustic.
Never again.

If 2 and half years of use only causes 3 days of withdrawals that person was taking a fairly low dosage, which is rare after that length of time
And for the OP, nothing wrong with being overly cautious, but worried about tapering after 3 or 4 days is overkill

I was taking anywhere from 3-6 Percocet 10's a day, depending on pain level.

I hate pain meds. Most of them don't work anyways. I only take them to help me sleep after surgery.

600 milligrams of whatever I could get my hands on. For years. I'm not proud of it. But I finally got clean with help.

just be sure you do not have automatic refills and you will be fine.
Pretty sure that can't happen anymore
