Don't be a pussy.
I had a labrum reattached in my shoulder and a bunch of bone shaved down. Doc me stacking oxycontin and oxycodone for five days before getting rid of the oxycontin and I just stopped taking them.
It's not that hard. You aren't going to take pills for a week or so and just become completely reliant on them unless you have much deeper problems.

damn. The few times I've had surgery I always eat 6-8 a day regardless if I have any pain or not until I run out. After my first surgery I learned the hard way of the importance of stool softener. I thought I was gonna die due to constipation

Truth. I had a rough surgery last may. I had narcotic syrup to take. The first couple of days I tried to stay on the schedule. It was pretty rough without it. The bottle said 5-10 mL every 6-8 hours. I took 10 every 6, then I took the half dose and had that stretched out to just twice a day. By the end of day 4, I was only taking ibuprofen. Then only at night to sleep. But 4-5 days in, I realized I hadn't pooped. I wasn't eating much, but you'd think there would be something. Day 6 I birthed something in the toilet.

Tapering is for when you're actually addicted. You were prescribed them Friday, you're fine just stopping.
