Not that this has to do with anything necessarily but one of the funniest stories I've ever heard involved stolen steel. Old coworkers family owned a scrap yard. He did the books at night. A semi had rolled steel on it (10 Tons?) And parked overnight. Any way.... He's up in his office late and he hears this commotion... Looks out and sees an f150 backed up to the semi and a couple dudes breaking the chains and blocks on the steel and prying it to roll on the back of their truck. That steel roll off the semi bed and through the F150. The dudes start trying to scrape ViN detail from the truck. Co workers family had to get crane to lift the steel and pull the axel of the truck out of the road just the thought of...what where they planning to do with that... Just happen to have 10 tons of rolled steel lying around...

that's some pretty hard working thieves. Is there a big market for stolen 1 ton beams?

I think all the gangs in BR and NOLA need to have a battle royale at the old times picayune building to settle the score once and for all

there are worst places. Spent 2 years in Puerto Rico and theft was so bad all three kids bikes were taken in the first 3 weeks, had to lock up the garbage cans to keep folks from going through it, the house had bars on the doors, windows and internally to lock off the sleeping bedroom from the rest of the house.

Plant site thefts were continuous , every one had a pair of bolt cutters. One night, we had a couple thousand feet of 2400 volt copper cable taken, while it was in service. Thieves laid down a board and used an axe to cut one phase at a time. Could spot the locations by the burned grass. Advertised a 5000 dollar reward for info and the thefts cousin turned him in

This new group has to be thinking that the best course of action is to file an insurance claim and walk away from the project.
