This thread makes me wonder if the White House has Mexican groundskeepers like everybody else.

No need to pay for the crappy yellow brand or the overpriced red tools.
I feel like the quality of milwaukee has dropped as well but the price hasn't.

I've had 2 impacts brushes worn very prematurely also fairly new batteries that bricked. I've used the hell out of some of their older tools and never missed a beat

At least Feds should have standards for fitment, chargers, and volts. ANSI, IEC, somebody.
They have that in Europe. We like freedom here in America.

Ryobi has 18v and 40v and they are not interchangeable.

I use the 40v for an edger, weed eater, mower, hedge trimmer, and blower.

I have had 0 issues, low maintenance, and no issues with the batteries. I did buy a 6ah backup, third party and no issues with that one either.

Or because Boomers and Gen X voted in ethanol mandates that made small engines less reliable.

You know ethanol free gasoline is easy to find and readily available everywhere.

Thought this thread might be about the Uber situation at the Battery ATL.

I was thinking the same thing.

the 18v ryobi one series works in 40 different tools

dewalt is the 20v i think, and it works in most all their tools

but both do have 40v series tools for their tools

Wait until you need to buy a new battery because the old one died. The 7.5 Amp hour battery in my Ego mower just died. Warranty is for 3 years. Naturally it's 3 months out of warranty. New one same size is $400. For $100 more I could buy the same lawnmower brand new.
No way. Disposable junk.

My wife bought a Ryobi combination tool. Doesn’t have 20 hours on it and the motor is kaput.

What’s up with all of these battery-powered yard equipment?

Millennials don't know how to maintain anything. Electric is more in their wheelhouse.

We have a shed full of gasoline yard equipment, but I got a lightweight ryobi weedeater that I have mounted on my lawn tractor. Makes it real freaking easy to trim around posts, etc, while I am mowing without having to venture back out later. I have these quick release holders that just allow me to grab it and stick it back on.

And even though we have backpack blowers, we have 2 battery powered blowers because they are a:convenient, but mostly because they are light and quiet, perfect for kids to help out with yardwork. It is pretty nice to have 2 kids blowing off driveway or whatever instead of me having to go back to do it.

I am nowhere near ready to consider electric for a mower, they are too expensive, don't last long enough, and just not for me. But for trimmers, hedge clippers, blower, loppers, etc... count me in. I got my mom a small ryobi chainsaw and she loves it for pruning in her yard. She's 75... she's not cranking or carrying a stihl.

I just replaced the 2 batteries in my wheelchair. They lasted me longer than any other batteries. Almost 7 years.

Love my EGO battery powered string trimmer. I don’t use it for the environment. I got it for ease of use.

Not that big of a deal, 90% of my cordless stuff is Dewalt and the rest is Milwaukee. With Dewalt, any one of my chargers will work with my 12, 20, and 60v packs. With Milwaukee, my chargers have M18 and M12 charging ports. So it's only two chargers on my work bench, yellow and red.

As a teenager I made money from cutting grass. I owned and maintained the same gas powered lawn mower and weed-eater through college, and I was born at the tail end of the millennial generation. Try again, boomer.

Electric lawn equipment has significantly improved the last 10 years. It easily handles my half acre. Why would I purchase gas powered equipment that will cost more in the long run with fuel costs, and be far more time consuming to maintain?

According to your logic, you use lawnmowers and weed-eaters because you don't want to maintain blisters on your hands from cutting your grass with a sycthe.

Boy that boomer lead poisoning is no joke.

The battery mfg goal is to win you over by buying the first tool.

Then you will most likely stick with the system.

Every red blooded man has an electric drill but get an electric string trimmer or blower and let the scoffing begin.

So you agree that battery lawn tools require less maintenance. Why would anyone in their right mind choose something that requires more maintenance?

We have too much shite to do as it is, I don't need to add more pointless tasks. Give me less maintenance.

Batteries do not hold a charge forever. They are getting better. The amount of time it will hold the charge and keep a full charge vary. I have a few corded tools for this reason. Love the lightness and use of ease of batteries, but they have to work when you need them.
