I get what you’re saying but everyone in this thread is just discussing the areas of town that are currently flooded. I don’t see anyone screaming for sandbags or losing their shite.

Exactly.

High rain totals get people nervous around here sure, but I don't see all the calls to get your valuables up high because we got 5" of rain.

I agree at this point, but this is also supposed to just be the start of a three day storm event. I can see why some people are nervous.

It's going to be off and on though.

2016 was a cut off closed low in August feeding off water near 90 in the gulf. This is basically a stalled front giving a focus for storms off and on.

I still get a little nervous too, but I also know why it won't be a flood event of consequence from this wet pattern.

Da fuq?

The week leading up to it had a swath of 20" predicted by modeling somewhere along the central gulf coast. Two days out, it was for Laffy to BR. Weather service had totals pushing 15-20" for the area a day out.

Original forecast was only 5". Didn't keep a screen shot but that is what it was on Monday or Tuesday of the week of rain.

Worst I’ve seen in a while , went out and it took me 2 hr instead of the usual 25 to get home. Rain is gone but the flooding was ridiculous for Barely any rain

Afton Oaks had some high water on the cut through on my way home. We live a little bit down from Jones Creek. We didn't flood in 2016 but came really close

ETA - hope you stay dry man

Par for the course with these weather guys. Make a bad call then “move the cone” and claim you nailed it.

FYI, news just showed Acadian Flooded, yes, that one part under the train tracks of course, but both sides are flooded on the other side by TJ Ribs. Major Flooding cluster by the LWCC / Radisson Side

Right but by the Thursday it got started, it was up to two feet for most of the area and there was always a blob of those rain totals with the system, it just wasn't in the right location at that point.

Literally just tried to make that right on Perkins and hit Acadian 30 mins ago but it was flooded and they had a barrier up, caused a pretty big jam

Highland is your best bet. Nicholson is ok. Burbank always floods by Walk On's.

River Rd was a nightmare at 5, but only because the rain was so heavy it was hard to see. No spots seemed in danger of flooding. Should be okay now.
