It ain't that easy. Blame culture. Blame lack of parenting. As I posted on a other thread, coach or mentor. Where's the faith-based community? I'd love to see some highly respected preachers gather their congregation and support a community effort to stop crime/hate.
Keep looking for the easy fix or play the blame game and ain't shite going to get done.
A lot of the preachers told their sheep to vote for Broome. As a veteran New Orleanian, I've seen preachers periodically hooting since Morial sicced them on the French Quarter hedonists after the Louisiana Pizza Kitchen slaughter. People were pissed at the protest and didn't want a sermon from some bling minister.
My solution (and most here won't agree) is to demand our legislators change the state Constitution to create BR and NO metros that the municipal boundaries align to the economic metropolitan area. There would be a metro mayor and local bodies equivalent to the NYC boroughs. So, the new city would be EBR, E. Felciana, Livingston, and Ascension. The new NOLA would be Orleans, JP, Plaq, and St. Bernard and maybe St. Tammany. Everyone would vote. Under this reorganization another Broome or another Cantrell would not be elected, period. No more MP, etc. The Republican caucus would have to have the spine to take the name calling. The end result would be a better government and better cities for everyone. You St. Georgians and LPers would be giving something up though. If Houston and NYC can cross county lines, then it is possible here if the will is present by state government and a vote of the statewide electorate.

Richard Lipsey / Jim’s Firearms and John Engquist / Head and Engquist are near the top of the list.
They helped pull SWB over the finish line against Bodi White then took point on trying to kill St George once SWB pissed off enough people to make it happen.

Baton Rouge Business Report literally ran an article today arguing that climate change was the biggest issue facing BR
And that publication is run by probably the biggest promoter of Bobby Jindal’s governorship in the entire state of Louisiana.

There is always enough blame for Judge Parker to get a big shovel full of it.

That’s because the certain owner of said rag was to be put on the Superdome Board if jindal was elected.

Already corrected myself a couple a page or so ago. Above the fold, it's hot outside???? Really? Beneath the fold, horrific murder of young woman.

Together Baton Rouge, Doug Welborn or Steve Raborn- the person for rejecting St George’s initial petition, Richard Lipsey, Jay Dardenne, John Enquist, Broome, Exxon, Murphy Paul, several metro councilmen and women, Gary Chambers, Trudy White, Janice Clark, Tasha Clark, whoever served on the Council on Aging in the last 10 years, the current sheriff who doesn’t do jack shite, Edwin Edwards, Several school board members and superintendents, Bodi White, Jim Bernhard, Rowdy Gaydet, That douche councilman who cheated on his rich wife with bar sluts, Cleo Fields, Don Johnson... the list is long and my memory has faded.

Gravy is an annoyance, not a threat to Baton Rouge.
These other people have done damage to something other than a Golden Corral or Shady Slim’s knuckles.

Throw them into their lobby off Siegen.
Consider adding a brick so that it gets distance when you throw it.

One of the big issues currently is judges at the 19th JDC. To combat racism, EBR created a majority black district from which black judges could be elected. However, over decades, population shifts resulted in this district having a significantly smaller population than the other districts which are elected by significantly more people. This gives African American voters 3 times as much representation on the 19th as they would if districts were apportioned equally by population. There are similar issues on the appeals courts as well.
In this small district which elects a ton of judges, “soft on crime”, “equity”, and “no cash bail” are the buzzwords that win elections. This results in judges that basically do whatever possible to release offenders as quickly as possible. This discourages police from investigating and DA’s from prosecuting crimes before these judges as zealously and deters “snitches” as those offenders will be right back on the street.
