What companies, government agencies, and leaders (past or present) are responsible for the current state of the city? Who are the villains? I'll start...

The Advocate. According to McKay's article, "And particularly not the Advocate, the local newspaper which has run zero articles on Rice’s murder since Friday as the case has begun to garner national attention. It ran three stories that day and has gone completely silent on the case since."

Straight up malfeasance, cowardice, incompetence or all three.

Are you surprised? Virtually every newspaper is leftist propaganda because they are the only ones willing to work for dirt shite to be a part of the “cause”. In this case they see average working class white folk getting worked up so they wont report shite about it.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the advocate is owned and operated as a hobby by a leftist billionaire. They could have zero subscribers and zero advertisers and still operate as his hobby.

I hate The Advocate as much as anyone else, but that’s simply untrue. There have been stories in the paper since then. There’s even one in today’s (Wednesday) issue. And there was one on Saturday too.

I stand corrected (violated my own new rule and went their website). Yes, there's a story buried far down the news page. Methinks that if victim and perp were different, the paper would find its outrage. The question though is who are the contributors to the current state of the city, and I say the body of the Advocate's reportage makes them a villain.

Parish Attorneys Office and Metro Council.

I know a lot of Cops stopped doing anything more than the minimum when they learned that the Parish Attorney’s Office paid protestors that were arrested after being observed on video obstructing a United States Highway during the summer protest of 2016.

The same summer that 4 cops in Baton Rouge and 5 in Dallas were murdered while attempting to maintain law and order during civil unrest.

The 5 million dollar payment to the Sterling family without ever allowing a single argument assigning any culpability to the actions of Sterling that led to his lawful death is a nice added bonus.

Personally, these were two of the biggest signs that the risk and efforts taken to uphold the law simply were not worth it and that those that died did so for a government that didn’t support them.

ETA: Parish Attorney settled the obstructing arrest without Metro approval under 10k. Don’t remember them jumping up and down to defend the awful but lawful encounter with Sterling. Council gets the majority of blame for the 5 million settlement.

The Metro Council has been fully aware of the crime problem in Baton Rouge for the past few years. You would have to be blind not to.

None of them with standing inside the City limits of Baton Rouge have demanded any accountability or asked the tough questions that are necessary to find real solutions. Their lack of oversight, inquiry, request or quality control has allowed the current climate to breed.

Anyone that would be considered Baton Rouge Old Money that funds people like Broome because they think they can control them for whatever reason. Clearly this experiment has failed.

Im not trying to be a smartass, but you know a different news outlet can be started right?

Start with a blog and twitter. Use google ads and as it gains more traffic it will start to generate money.

As an independent news outlet no one can tell you anything. Independent writers can be hired to do articles.

It would take a little planning and organization, but if several people jump on board.. The advocate sucks. It could easily be pushed down to the 2nd tier "newspaper" of Baton Rouge.

Probably well intended, but hardly no one was happy - black or white. Kids living near McKinley were bused across town. Kids living near Woodlawn were bused to Lee. In the 80s some kids were catching the bus just after 6:00 a.m to get to school for 7:30. Families started leaving in droves.

This is such the media today. Who to blame? What's the easiest way to feel like we're doing something? Give me an answer in 2 minutes or less.

It ain't that easy. Blame culture. Blame lack of parenting. As I posted on a other thread, coach or mentor. Where's the faith-based community? I'd love to see some highly respected preachers gather their congregation and support a community effort to stop crime/hate.

Keep looking for the easy fix or play the blame game and ain't shite going to get done.

Someone linked the campaign records for SWB.
Take a look and see all the connected people funding her campaign.
