conventions do not want to go to play around at a driving range. they want to do more new orleans-y shite while they are in town. Also most serious golfers that want to play are going to play a round of 18.
The issue in that plan is finding land suitable for it. most likely its buried deep on the wank or the northshore. So factor in travel for all your conventioners and it makes simply going to Fulton Alley or renting out Pat O's more worthwhile.

I watched several people that night hitting balls, and almost half barely could get it off the tee. Its just a place to get together and a party, young and old. Plus the aura of the place at night is visually stimulating, like a sports bar with a driving range several floors high.

I like how we have two professional sports teams yet NOLA and the Northshore can't support TopGolf...
Those demographics are not interchangable. its not apples to apples.
As I said to make a company sustainable you have to look at repeat business.
People will always go broke for Saints tickets, becuase its engrained in the city. The Pelicans offer cheapish ticket packages as well as solid corporate backing.
Top Golf isn't going to be sponsored by Morris Bart, Coca Cola, etc. They are on their own to support their own brand.

Been to the one in Alpharetta on a wed. Night during the fall and it was pretty slow

Seriously, are you retarded?

Well you are going to have to convince the ownership to build in BR considering it's not a franchise. I personally see them building one closer to New Orleans than BR. But who knows.

Agreed. It would kill here.

This has nothing to do with real golf. The place would attract the "putt-putt golf" crowd. People just looking for something fun to do.. Again, I've never been. But it looks like it can cater to any age group and be fun. From young kids to people old enough to still swing a club without throwing out a back.
But there have been a lot of good arguments as to why it won't work in this thread, so I've been swayed a little. But I'm still not convinced it couldn't work.

It has at least a little to do with real golf.

Once or twice. How many times are you going to drop $150 for a couple hours with your kids at this place? Once or twice.

Houston would never let it happen, bc there wouldn't be any reason to go over there anymore.

How much are they charging at this place? You don't have to eat and drink there in order to hit a bucket of balls do you?
If you have to spend $100 every time you go then yea that's too much and would get old quick. But as someone in their mid-20's, I could easily see replacing a few boring nights at a downtown bar.. going 1-2 times a month and spending $40-$50 there..

Where are you getting $150 for 2 hours? We played the one in Phoenix at 4 pm on a Sunday and it was like $35/hr for the booth. We were slamming beers so yeah it got pricey, but if you're not getting a pitcher every 5 minutes it's not that bad

Baton Rouge NEEDS a lot of things: better schools, better roads, a loop, a better mayor, etc.
Baton Rouge WANTS a Top Golf.

That's my point. It's $45 an hour after 5:00 pm but we aren't talking about just going and hitting balls. You can do that for cheap at a driving range. He's talking about replacing a night out at the bars, which probably involves a few drinks and add-ons.

It appears that Top Golf is like a bowling alley, but with golf?
Posted on 7/9/15 at 2:33 pm to Wayne Campbell
That's how I explain it to people who have never been
Posted on 7/9/15 at 2:34 pm to Artie Rome
It will never survive here Baton Rouge can't support it, the end.
Posted on 7/9/15 at 2:35 pm to Artie Rome
I think we were there for 3 hours and split 5 ways my bill was less than $50. I spend double that for an extra hour and a half on a golf course. I would drive to BR or NO for it several times a year
Posted on 7/9/15 at 2:43 pm to Thib-a-doe Tiger
I always thought it was just a double decker driving range.
It looks like it would be a pretty decent time, but I don't know how often I would go to one.
