GO FISH GO
Please bring back the following game experience
Cotton Eyed Joe
Closest to the pin puck toss
The blimp that flew around and dropped Picadilly coupons
Cam Brown
Mardi Gras uniforms
The spotlights
Them losing
Being stuck in traffic in the Centroplex parking garage for hours after the game

You forgot the free Surge being handed out after the game outside.

Where are they gonna play? They moved to the Smoothie King center from the old municipal auditorium before the hornets/pelicans arrived and became the main tenant for the arena. The Brass left because no one wanted to spend the money to convert the playing surface of the arena from ice hockey to basketball and back again multiple times a season because the seasons overlap.

Baton Rouge hockey legend, Cam Brown, throwing hands in the Riverside Centroplex circa 1996

They’ll be popular at first, but attendance will decrease after that. I give them 5 years.

Why? The other Kingfish team did so well.

That was such a cool name. Yes, it will always be the Centroplex and I’ll remember the gun shows there more than my high school graduation.

Wish the Monroe Moccasins would come back

I miss the ECHL days of the late 90's. You could do all of the I-10 road trips to see games. Ice Gators in Lafayette, Kingfish in Baton Rouge, Brass in New Orleans, Sea Wolves in Biloxi, Mystics in Mobile and Ice Pilots in Pensacola. Fun times.

I wish this story told us who was having a press conference and had a better source than a dude with an old shirt.

Would be cool to have, but being back in BR means moms and dads scared to risk the drive through BR dodging bullets and interstate blockages for those dodge charger burnout parties they like to have. Or getting jacked walking to or from the river center. Screw dat.
It ain’t 1999 anymore

The only other option would be UNO. There is still the basketball court overlap, but Lafayette did it back in the day. Not having to go to the CBD and deal with all the crime, traffic, and high priced parking might help keep the team viable. Let’s face it, the fan base ain’t coming from the inner city and the people from the suburbs would be more likely to attend at UNO.

Seawolves back this fall. Will definitely be attending my fair share of games.

What league will they be in?
ETA: Just googled and found they will play in the Federal Prospects League. I am wondering if that is where the Baton Rouge team would compete, as well.

I always thought the Kingfish was as a lame team name.
Need to go cold themed.
I thought “Ice-Sickles” with a reaper as the mascot would be way cooler
