This guy apparently believes this is just a figment of your imagination:

I've lived in Baton Rouge my entire life (nearly 64 years) and can say, without a doubt, Baton Rouge is NOT a better place than it was just a few years ago.

The thugs that did this more than likely came from the Bawell Street area.

Gentrifiying that area would do wonders for the city. It's surrounded by good neighborhoods in every direction.

It's really sad for someone that grew up in BTR in the 60s and early 70s to see the decline of what was a pretty good place to live and raise a family. The folks that brought on this decline now outnumber those trying to keep it a decent place and it would take a monumental shift in politics and culture to reverse the downhill direction that is currently in place. Many don't see this could ever happen again and have packed up and moved on.

I can think of two groups they could get rid of to help things improve. Both start with a D.

yeah but, dude, TIger football is about to start and we have a cool food scene.

Along with the legislature you want to replace, how bout calling out Coach Sid. For a guy that showed so much promise, he is turning into a big fat turd as a mayor.

No different from Houston, or most other metropolitan areas. It's the culcha. Go to corporate meetings in nicer locales, such as Palm Springs, etc.

Wait, I thought Sid Edwards was going to cleanup Baton Rouge. Has he accomplished anything worth a damn since being elected mayor?
