Do you remember that whenever we had to take a leak, we’d have to piss against this long wall that was basically a troth ?

It’s been almost half a lifetime ago, yet i can remember it like it was just the other day.. the pounding beat of ‘Jump Around’ echoing in my head while im pissing like Seabiscuit up against that wall .

Someday they’ll be forced to change the name to Sports. Then Reggie’s. The surrounding area will become more ghetto and it’ll eventually close.

That’s not the culture that will be visiting this place.

Wasn't there a 'Sportz' moniker in there somewhere as well?

Wasn’t this Hilton recently renovated like 10-15 years ago or was it longer than that?

Building preservationists should stop this project. The hotel is historic and should be preserved, not turned into some tacky and gimmicky place.

The summer (1992) between my 8th and 9th grade years, my step-dad painted the outside of the building across Lafayette St which appears to be Hotel Indigo now (his friend owned both buildings). I spent the summer fetching tools and paint, as well as helping move the platform that hung down the side of the building so they could paint and recaulk the windows. The counterweights were 45lbs each and I think there were 20 on each side of the platform. Also moved a bunch of ceiling tiles out of the Hilton, found some nuddie mags, and other random crap. Looked at the tunnel but it was filled with junk back then.

It's the same group that operates the Margaritaville places.

Then expect it to be expensive as hell. They took over the RV park in Henderson, and the prices increases have been crazy.

It's 1000% about the sports betting. Most of my delivery drivers are stuck to their phones any time there's a game on.

I think the 52% estimate is very low for the Baton Rouge area, especially in the AA community. Those guys are addicted to the online betting.

Baton Rouge is 50% black.
Black people love sports betting.
SI is cashing in on black people.

Baton Rouge needs a loop to really accelerate. But I’ll take a solid hotel brand.

You’re losing a “solid hotel brand” (Hilton) and getting a hotel operated by a sports magazine publisher.

I think “Sportz” was a lifestyle expression of newer patrons and that’s why a dress code had to happen.

Likely turn into a big Saints and Southern hangout. Then, no tipping will occur; lotsa hanging out, but no purchasing; room damage with minimal deposits; then, it will close and be vacant again.
